What do I do?????????????????
This goes back to my other post about the job.
(http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showth...threadid=70375 (Nervous about a new job.....)) I haven't heard back from any of the other jobs i've applied for in the LA area. I've applied for anything that is in LA and suits me. I'm not even picky about what it is I do, I adapt really well. I am supposed to call my roommates company this week to setup an interview. If I get this job and stay here I don't think I will be truly happy. I really don't know what to do. I think my heart wants to be in LA. I think I would be happier. I can't afford to move to LA without a job in line. This whole process it taking a toll on my mentally. I'm frustrated, stressed, and down right irritated. UGGGHHH!!!! : ![]()

I don't think anyone here can answer your question: you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
That being said, you have a lot of information at your fingertips that you need to sort out: you want to be in LA; there's a bad job market all over, including LA; you didn't get any responses after (how long?) a period of time looking; you have a friendship that is leading to a potentially solid job, but in a place where you don't want to be; if you find a job in LA you risk the friendship and appear to be a less-than-appreciative person if you leave the one your friend is setting you up with. Not that anyone needs any philosophy at this point, but I learned long ago that life is sometimes about tough decisions. You need to decide what you really want vs. what you really need, and what your soul, heart, and conscience can bear. You will be faced with similar challenges over the years. The important thing is to think everything through, make a decision, and stick with it. Be definitive in your decision. Good luck and keep us posted! |

Take the job with the roommate's company if you can get it. Keep looking in LA. If you prefer, give the LA job search a hiatus for 6 months or so. Then look again. If you get an offer from LA that you like then give adequate notice.
Simple. |

I'm with Grimm on this one. If you haven't received any replies back from LA firms, then I would just take the job and learn as much as you can. Wait 6 months and then start trying your luck again. Hopefully the job market and the economy will have rebounded by then as well. Good luck! |

Only Me!!!!!!!!!!1
Thanks guys....I did take the job with my room mates company. It's a pretty cool job. Of course when it rains it pours, I worked there for a week and they are getting ready to give me a in depth training. They are also expanding my position to include 3 other duties.
Now comes Thursday, I get a call from a job in LA. I went down this weekend and interviewed. They are supposed to call me back Monday for a second interview, well they called today and want to schedule another one for Friday the 6th. I feel like I screwed my room mates company, and at the same time I am getting this cool opportunity to move to LA to be with my girlfriend. Now comes the problems. She will most likely be leaving LA in 2 years after grad school. So whatever job I take I will assuming i'm still with her be leaving the job in 2 years to go where she goes to teach. So either way....this may not yet be a career for me. So now what... I obviously have to discuss this over with her, but UGH, so confusing. Just on a side note...there are rumors of my friends father in law offering me a job with his company as a purcherser. I probably would't take that job but rain its HAILS!!! |

I think you worry too much about things that are uncertain. looking too far ahead will only create more anxiety for you. do what you think its to your best interest right now. things tend to work themselves in time so there's no sense in worrying too far into the future.
