I know love's supposed to conquer all, but to me, it's harder to understand and feel than any subject I've learned or taken interest in.

I thought I had found the girl of my dreams 3 years ago, and it was the first time I felt the way I did, but it didn't work out. Fast forward to now, I've been living irresponsibly, I guess stereotypical college guy lifestyle of looking to hook up. So I meet this girl, and I was friends with her twin sister 3 years ago, but never knew they were sisters. I hung out with her all weekend, and Friday night would have been a typical "drink a good many (not wasted) drinks with friends and see where the night goes", but since this new girl drinks pretty responsibly, I held back. We watched the Virginia Tech Hokies lose the next day, then later that night she came over to watch a movie and some MXC We flirted a little bit, so I was kind of happy to see that I wasn't boring to her. Today, all I could think about was hanging out with her more, so I paid her a visit before coming on campus to study, which I SHOULD be doing now.

Now that I'm not so focused on physical satisfication, I'm really enjoying spending time with her. Here's where I start wondering: do I feel this way because she's just a nice girl who's fun to hang out with, or could this be a start of something new? I've been screwing up possible good relationships by jumping in too fast then realizing I'd have been better off staying friends... I just don't want to mess this up I guess.

It's hard to figure it out when you haven't really been in love before... are there signs I should look for thaht will help me differentiate whether I should let her only be my friend, or whether it might be something?

I beat love already. I was on level 21, and I got tired of leveling up, so I just went and tried to win. Just bring lots of healing potions and you should be ok.

try not to analyze so much ski and go with the flow.
you will know when you feel love. no one can coach you on that.

it's feeling like you want that person by your side all the time and when they aren't you miss them and think about them almost incessantly.
it's actually a good feeling.

I think you are enjoying this new refreshing person and it sounds great. As for instant love, well, who can truly tell. Its up to you, but it sounds like both of you would enjoy more time together. Just go have fun and the best thing is to not get caught up thinking about the situation. Its when you stop and analyze it so much that you may have a mess on your hands. Just enjoy her, and let her enjoy you. If it goes well, then sweet. and if you go slower and just become friends, well that sounds like a winning situation too. Imho, its when you require a classification for something, is when you force it into a box and it becomes a requirement that you try to make work, versus when you flow freely and just let it grow at its own pace, taht you have a great time and then the best of friendships and relationships grow.
