Avon Mark

Hey,

i could use some extra cash, and i came across one of those Avon "Mark" ads in the paper. From what I can tell, you would pretty much become an Avon sales person, only they're trying to make it a bit cooler by renaming it "Mark". Has anyone here ever tried either (selling the products, not buying), or have any opinions on the whole matter? is it terribly time consuming, and is the money worth it?

Grazie!

"It's AWSOME, all you have to do is put a $400 deposit down, which you will easily make up ofcourse, and sign here, here and here stating that you must sell atleast $1000 a month in products or else you have to make up the difference."

yuh, avon rocks!

*shrug* according to their mark website, you only have to put down 10 bucks. which sounds a bit sneaky to me, which is why i'm curious as to what it's really like.

It's kind of funny that they chose that name. When I heard it, I immediately thought of this definition of "mark:"

Quote:
(2) : an object of attack, ridicule, or abuse; specifically : a victim or prospective victim of a swindle

Mark is targeted for the younger crowd. The products that they sell are for that age range (18-24). Not the usual Avon products, as far as I remember it. *Worked for Avon* but didn't sell Avon, if that makes any sense.

My wife sold Avon for about a year. It did only cost her a few bucks to get started and she did ok with it, but she felt like it was draining her. She had one "big" customer who made large orders every time and that was nice, but others would make smaller orders and then she felt like she was having to drag the money out of them. Its good for a little extra spending cash, but not something that you can make a lot of money at unless you have no life and spend all your time begging friends to buy stuff.

i say don't do it avlena. i have a sister in law who gets in and out of these home sale things frequently. in order to make it worth your time you have to work too many hours.

My wife did the Mary Kay thing. It sucked. Believe me, a part-time job at McDonalds pays more per hour than this type of "business".

There are a few people who are very motivated, love the product, and really believe in the company. They do well. But from your first post, it sounds like you just want a little extra cash. That's the type of attitude that usually fails at the MLM stuff.

i sold cutco one summer. the biggest benefit: have a complete set for super cheap. otherwise, the money isn't worth the effort.

where you really make money with these things is when, like in most MLM-type schemes, you move up the chain and have a lot of people under you.

the mother of a friend of mine was a mary-kay rep, she made a ton of $$, had the free car, etc. she had a bunch of people under her, and it was a great (full-time) gig. but if you're one of the people on the ground with like 10 customers, it's not that cool.

people that do those things generally get on my nerves. i'm not one to mix business with pleasure on a 24/7 basis. when you have a friend doing any sort of home sales/mlm stuff that's what you get. they always want you to buy something.
