Dear Obby: Clothes stains

Hi, um....so I've been doing some home repair and got white paint on one of my most comfortable faded blue jeans a faded blue sleaveless t-shirt. Oh, and I got a black ink stain on another pair of jeans. Any help would be appreciated.

Too funny - I was gonna say you need to preface your requests for household issues with a "Dear Obby" prefix. Makes it more clear and you'll get a quicker response.

hydrogen peroxide- but it may bleach the entire stained area... so you have to be pretty careful with that

did you already try to old routine of rubbing in soap and warm water?

small stiff bristle brush(or tooth brush) and a FELS NAPTHA SCRUB followed up by a shot of tide on the painted area and a wash of HOT water-sometimes..if you heat up a butterknife and place it on the paint it will soften it enough to peel most of it off..follow up with above removal recipe...for the ink,pre-treat stain with straight original tide, let sit for an hour or so, wash in HOT HOT WATER, check stain..if the ink is still there-pretreat again with fels naptha and wash in hot water..do not dry in dryer until the stain is removed.

peroxide works on blood and chocolate (it removes proteins) but I wouldn't use that as a first resort..it depends on what kind of material the garment is made out of..(NEVER USE PEROXIDE ON SILK!-it eats the fabric)

use Ivory snow detergent-(or any other kind of detergent specifically made for use on baby clothing)...also, you might try woolite if you are afraid that the coating on the jacket will become compromised. Never use a dryer on the heat settings for jackets..always use the "fluff" setting..

what kind of material is the suit made of? what is the stain from? always try the Fels Naptha/Tide remedy...that, or salt and lemon juice...spread salt over stain and drizzle with fresh lemon juice..brush lightly with a soft toothbrush. the acid in the juice lifts the stain..make sure the garment is colorsafe though-.if that doesnt remove the stain..I suggest BLACK RIT FABRIC DYE to re-dye the entire skirt and cover the stain.

White stain on a skirt... might not want to know what the stain is from.

And thanks for the advise obby. I'll try it this weekend when I have time. Btw, does anyone know if there are any stores in the LA area that sell Fels Naptha soap or is it only sold on-line? Thanks.
