Umm...I need pants

I'm not a fashion person. In fact, all I wear to work are kahkis or jeans and polo shirts. My shoes are either black slipon tennis shoes or white tennis shoes. When clients come I wear some good shoes, but I don't really like them because they're not comfortable.

Anyways, I realize today that I need new pants. I only have one or two pairs of Kahkis, and one is showing wear. What brands of kahkis do you guys wear and where do you get them? For some reason I don't want to spend like $50 on pants...

jcrew often has sales on their khakis and can go as low as $20.

I really don't care for dockers. For casual khaki's I really like the gap - or Hilfiger (but that is more expensive).

For shoes, I really like skechers. They look nicer than tennis shoes, but are just as comfortable and about the same price as sneakers.

Dress shoes suck.

This might belong on the softer side but either way here goes.

I have Perry Ellis Portfolio slacks in a variety of colors and fabrics. They are extremely comfortable, can be warmer/cooler depending on the fabric choice, are machine washable, and not too expensive. (Range from $120 - $30, if you find them on sale). They are extremely durable and take a world of abuse.

Dockers generally suck in terms of durability and comfort.

Tommy Hilifinger -- Had 2 pairs, both were comfortable but both died a quick and unnatural death when the fabric in the crotch wore out. (The joke made by numerous people was that I must have some pair to wear out all these pants)

As for your shoe issue, if you can get away with those shoes, I guess thats ok. I alternate between a few pairs of Allen Edmonds, Kenneth Coles, Ecco's and even a dressy pair of sketchers. Then again, I also have some nice Docksiders which I could get away with if I wanted. All are extremely comfortable and that is always the key with shoes.

Gap or Banana Republic both have decent pants at pretty good prices and for shoes I could go with Doc Martins the most comfortable shoe you will ever own

agree w/uf. perry ellis are good.

the best for me have been the non-pleated haggar pants. they last a lot longer than dockers.

I like the Perry Ellis and Haggar wrinkle free dress pants. I've gotten the Dockers one and they suck...they fade really fast. I usually just get blank pants and maybe grey. I have a pair of Ecco shoes and they're ok.

i wear banana republic khakies. i prefer wool pants though. . .they don't show wrinkles as much so i don't have to get them cleaned as often. generally speaking, when i have my pants cleaned it's because they are too wrinkled, not because they are dirty.

i used to like dockers, but now that they make them with the stain free stuff, they don't last as long.

for dress shoes i usually get steve maddens or rockports. they are both tennis-shoe comfortable.

Rockports are dressy yet comfy. As for khakis, I'll pick up whatever's on sale at BJ's or Costco. They always have khakis for like $20-$30, and it's big name brands, too...not that it matters.

I like the Perry Ellis stuff too.

I am also a big fan of the Docker's Stain Defender. They are super comfortable and easy to iron. I bought some on sale at JC Penny for $20 each, but they are usually $50.

Remember, you can get most of the same name brands at JC Penny or Mervyn's that you can get at Macy's or Nordstrom. Unless its on sale I don't buy from the higher end stores because it is the same merchandise, just more expensive.

I would avoid Diesel. Used to have a few pairs of their jeans and they fell apart. I expected more for the money - and they do cost a lot of money.

Dickies. You can get them with pleats, or flat-fronted which ever you prefer.

They last forever

I wear polo and nautica pants mainly. I usually try to get them on sale or at TJ Maxx or both. I think they hold a press better. Tommy, BR, dockers, haggar, etc... are decent and I own at least a pair of each of them but they don't hold a press as well as the polo and nautica. The polo and nautica pants just look more crisp and freshly pressed for longer. They are a little heavier weighted which I think helps to hold a press. I am not talking about the polo golf pants (poplin) but the hammond, andrew, etc... pants.

You know what my problem is? I think $30 for pants is TOO expensive. I guess I don't like spending a lot of money on clothes...excluding my suit and my jerseys (which I don't wear, only collect) I think all my clothes are worth less than $150...

Yet, I spend $50 on video games...hah...

if you have money to spend or find the right pants on sale at banana republic, they are realllll nice. I hace a couple pairs of wool pants for winter time, and man they are real nice. If I am looking for slacks, i look at the perry ellis and BR and jcrew and dockers.

I bought some nice BR pants today. They are heavier than the gavin pants that I got there this summer so they should hold a press very well. They were $35.

I wear slacks rather than kahkis to work since they are more dressy. I like Perry Ellis, Hilfiger, DKNY etc. You should be able to find big name labels at TJ Maxx on the super cheap.

If you have to stick with kahkis I usually buy Gap, since they are comfortable and usually pretty cheap. Whatever you do, don't buy pleated kahkis.
