Shirt and laundry help!
WF! I need your help!
So I have a lot of polo shirts that have screwed up collars. They're quite rigid and are not really folding down quite well. They don't look normal. I tried ironing them or using fabric softener with the hopes that they'll loosen up and just look normal, but they're still rigid. What should I do? |

sorry to tell you-but some of those double knit collars are actually crafted to hold a stiff shape like that-it's because of a tight double weave that the knitting machines create but! do this-try and soak the collar in heavily salted water prior to washing it..just like if you lived near the ocean-salt water has a tendancy to break down fabrics-kind of like how if you pour bleach directly onto a fabric it will eat through it (clorox=sodium)..anyway..since this is a different concentrate of sodium-it may break down the fiber enough to make it softer and more flexible..don't use fabric softner on it-the more crap you add to your wash the more buildup you get on those fibers..use a very mild detergent-like ivory snow, and dont dry it in the dryer..once it's dry-USE HEAVY STEAM on it-that should make it somewhat more flexible.. |
