Flying while sick(any suggestions?)

I thought I might ask everybody for tips and suggestions on this.

I am flying to vegas from boston tomorrow night and I have been sick all week(I hoped it would be gone by tomorrow but it looks like it won't be). I have a ton of pressure in my sinuses and the good old runny nose. Now does anybody have any tips to help me with flying tomorrow?

I was at the doctors today for somethign else and she recommended I take some sudefed 30mins before I fly and also put a warm wet towel over my ear tonite to help with the pressue. She said I had a lot of fluid in my ears due to my cold.

Any other suggestions?

as someone who has had several painful experiences flying with infected sinuses, my recommendation is to take whatever kind of decongestent works best for you until tomorrow night so that your sinuses are as clear as possible and your ears can drain a little bit.

whatever you do, the pain in your ears is going to be bad. but to feel the pain shooting from your ears through across your face to your nose and making your nose run.....that's just terrible.

I knew this damn cold was going to hurt. Now woudl you recommend I take som nyqull and pray that I pass out on the flight, or do you think I won't be able to sleep if I am sick?

The worst part about it, my friends and I don't have a hotel for friday night, so I gotta stay awake till noon on saturday when we check into our hotel. I would be fine if I wasn't sick, but being sick I dunno, mix in nyqull and I think I am f'd

Good luck dude. Take some heavy drugs or the candle remedy for your ears... or else its gonna hurt and you wont be able to hear them. Some stewardess tried to say something to me a few times, and i just kinda shrugged at her, and then she reached for this poster i had in my hands, and without thinking i swung it and whacked her hands with it.. and she ran off... and then i realized she was asking for me to put it away. So while she was gone i slid it under my seat and pretended to be sleeping when she came back with the two male stewards.. So incident avoided

HAHHAHAHAHAHAH that is great, I just got back from my trip. Taking off wasn't bad, and my ears were plugged a ton. Landing did hurt like a bitch, chewing my gum trying to pop the ears and all of a sudden this sharp pain shoots accross my face. The flight from vegas to seattle 2 days later was the same. Wasn't as bad as I thought but still hurt like a bitch, couldn't hurt a thing in vegas for 2 days since my ears were so plugged.

no alcohol. that increases stuffiness.

nyquil, dramamine... you might be able to sleep. just DEFINITELY use a decongestant.

I figured he wouldn't care if he was asleep. I suppose there might be better ways of sleeping. And if there was pain... he wouldn't remember it.

Yup, although I don't drink. I did take a ton of decongestants while I was sick and right before I flew(even though they barly helped). Sleeping on planes is the best, you fall asleep, wake up and you then land 20mins later. Good way to get through a 6hr flight
