Does wearing a ring mean anything....

if it's on the left middle finger?

short synapsis, i met a girl a while back and i was very interested in her, but it turns out she had a bf. i didn't see her for a year, and now she's back in the picture. we went out to lunch today, and i noticed that she's wearing a diamond ring on the left middle finger. i don't even know if it really is a diamond, but just curious if it means anything.

Middle finger? My guess is that it's a family heirloom, perhaps her grandmother's ring, and the only finger it fits on is her middle finger.

All I know about rings is that I was told to wear my class ring on my ring hand, because any ring on your left ring finger means you're engaged or married.

you may want to ask her next time you see her. it would probably make for some good conversation and it would give you the real answer you need.

Yeah just be like "that's a really nice ring" and she'll fill in the blank. Middle finger's weird... but diamond's usually significant.

my guess is the same as kb's... but yeah, ask her about it; you could say something like "the cut of that stone looks old-fashioned; was it your grandmother's? it's beautiful!" can't go wrong with that...

i actually have seen couples who were unmarried but in a long-term relationship who wore matching rings on their left middle fingers. so it could mean something, but it could be random.

I've met several girls in college that wear rings on their left ring finger and I always tease them by asking if they're married, but they don't really have a reason for it...

well a ring on the middle finger would make it more stylish when you give somebody the single deuce.

Like my ring? *middle finger*

Best way to find out is to ask.

My gf wears a ring on her left hand that I gave her. Diamond ring, nothing too expensive, but she wears it on that finger. Some people would rather wear a ring on that finger then the middle.

I know that when I wear rings(wear them sometimes, i have 2) I wear one on each ring finger.

To some a ring on your left ring finger doesn't mean much, but it will mean something when you become enganged or married.

This makes me sad that I can't wear my wedding ring any more. My finger is lonely.

My suggestion is this: ask her.

I know several unattached women who wear rings on their left ring finger for reasons from "I don't wanna get bugged when I go out" to "I like wearing it on my left ring finger" to "that's where it has the best fit."

My guess is that your friend's ring could mean anything.
