Christmas present for the gf
Well i had been planning on getting my gf an ipod for the longest time. I was going to sneak into her place (with help of her roommate) while she was gone and upload all her songs from itunes into it so it would be ready when she opened it, and put some songs i choose on there.
But it turns out her parents are getting her one for xmas ( i know caused i called them and chatted with them and asked) so now i have to figure out a new present. she is getting me something somewhat expensive.. at least from what she has hinted it sounds like it. She needs a new pair of comfortable shoes, and a new winter jacket, but A. i don't know jack about shoes, and b. those are kinda boring. Just wanted to see if any ladies here had any advice. She plays water polo, president of the Student alumni council (senior in college), wants to go to law school, crazy go nuts busy right now with all of that and finals. I already have gotten her a massage, heart-locket necklace, silver engraved ring, diamond earrings. (been together almost 2 years) just having trouble thinking of much. usually i'm good at this stuff. only thing i can think of is to take her out on a shopping spree and make her buy shoes and a new jacket or some fun clothes.

Do you ever go out to more formal events? Dinner at a nice restaraunt or something like that? If so, a nice cashmere wrap (check Nordstroms) might be a more romantic version of a jacket.
Pashmina is even nicer, but typically thinner and not very warm. They will typically be from $100->$200.

Hmmm, been together 2 years, comfortable chatting with her parents, willing to spend a lot of money...
It's time you bought her a ring and made her an honest woman. ![]() Think about it this way: you're probably going to do it sometime anyway, so do it for Christmas and you'll save the $300 you would have spent on an ordinary gift!

Rock on man, I did the same thing for my girl. Only I got her the Dell DJ. I couldn't quite afford an IPOD for her. I'm also probably going to get her a decent watch to go with it. I thought about the shoes/clothes, but my girl is kind of picky and there is no way I could pick out those things for her.

lol, no thats not in the 5 year plan i just graduated from college and she is going to graduate this year, then wants to go to law school. We've discussed all that stuff, in due time in due time. And yes we do go out to nice romantic dinner. Went to a place in Boston (where we are now) called Finale for our 1.5 yr. its a dessert restaraunt, and we always go out to dinner and say we are going to get dessert but are too full. So i took her out to a dessert restaraunt so we had a small dinner (soup & salad) and a huge dessert and a bottle of champagne ![]() I'll look into the Pashmina though, that could work. |

WOW... I haven't ever gotten a girl this much stuff... heck, I've never given this much stuff to all the females in my life. If you ever think of switching sides, give me a call. ![]()

how abouta romantic getaway, just a weekend trip, to relax away from school for a bit. Or since it sounds like a wedding is on the way anyway, you could get her a nice promise ring. besides, it'll help "mark your territory" early

![]() ahh stilly brother i had the idea for an ipod a while ago, but her parents are getting it for her.The silver ring i bought was sort of a promise ring, just a plain band with an inscription in it. And marriage is not really on the horizon yet more like 3-4 years away.I'll think of something, i technically have until early Jan since we probably won't exchange gifts until then. I was thinking of a weekend trip but neither of us have a car so thats a real pain. If i did we could go up to maine or a bed and breakfast somewhere (winery? hmm free wine...) |

So Kacarp, why don't you get her what every woman wants. . . Give her a beef stick! Most every woman would love to have it, You'll save a load of money. Every time I slip my girlfriend a beef stick she is completely overcum by the sensations it brings to her. Her waiting hands and willing mouth begin to quiver in anticipation. The giddiness starts welling up, and eventually she can help but sit there and bounce. It's a truley joyous, although somewhat exhaustive, gift. The part that will hit you the hardest, is when you pop the necklace onto her. Awww yeah... |

i'm going to vote to combine three ideas up there...
sounds like you're too busy for a romantic getaway, and i wouldn't want someone else to pick out items that MUST be comfortable like coats and shoes. and a beefstick is always a good idea. SO: 1) the shopping spree. you take her to wherever and let her take as much time as she needs to try on all the coats and/or shoes in the store. don't act bored at all. finish up in a lingerie store (and be prepared to drop about $50 there.) 2) follow up with a nice dinner... cook it yourself, take her out someplace quiet and dim and not too expensive, whatever... a mini-getaway to a nice booth with a candle at the table. 3) beefstick. maybe start out by asking her to model again... just the udnerwear and coat ![]()

heh yeah that was sort of the plan i was going to do welfare. Take her out shopping and make her buy things (me paying of course), just spend a nice day shopping and relaxing. Then either go out somewhere nice or i could whip up a nice dinner (problem is i have roommates which sorta kills the whole romantic atmosphere).
Yeah then of course beefstick I just gotta see when she has time to do all of this. |

Yeah, I'm probably dating the one person more conservative than me so step 3 never was really an option. Of course given that I had forgotten to get her anything, I was quite happy to get out of there with all of my body parts still attached.
