Deodorant

Ok so what's good perspiration wise... freaking nothing works!

Axe spray, stick, gel = nope
Redzone clear solid, gel = Nope

I need a deodorant that controls perspiration and preferably has no alchohol, i must have ruined a couple of thousand dollars worth of clothes because the freaking alchohol ate out the color and permanantly stained many of my fine shirts.

Any suggestions?

Gels dont work as well as sticks or heavy sprays IMO. I use them gels cuz I don't sweat in the office and I don't care if I sweat while working out.

Try a solid. Yeah it's white, but it works better.
Go do it now. Quickly. For the good of everyone around you, find something ot cover up that stench.

I suggest that if you have a tendency to pit out (As I have had in the past), you always wear a cheap t-shirt under your valuable threads.

That's the 1st problem, denial. You are not the best judge of your own smell. Are people avoiding you (more than usual)? Do they hold their collective breathes while dealing with you? You may need to trim the offending region(s).

Seriously though, you should wear an undershirt to protect your shirt and it will help absorb the wetness. But why argue, grab a solid stick and let us know if it's enough for you. Maybe try Secret. It's strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

Your welcome,

-j

i used to have the same problem Burzhui (though my clothes are a lot cheaper). I switched to Arm & Hammer UltraMax deodorants. They help keep me dry and smelling good and no more stains. I use the solid, clear deodorant (not the antipersperant) and it works great.

I heard that soft solids work best, and the one I am using now seems to be the best deodorant that I have ever tried, though it's not perfect. I've heard of a product that protects the armpits of shirts (like a sanitary pad), but I'm not sure if it's on the market or just in my imagination.

On a side note, it's very difficult to find a women's soft solid in unscented. Why does everyone want their deodorant to smell like something? If you wanted to smell like something wouldn't you use cologne? Now you have to find a product that functions properly and smells how you want to smell. Not easy.

I've heard shaving the pits cut down on sweating and i think you can get botulism injected and it will paralyze the glands stopping the problem until it wears out.

I use cologne every day, and i don't like the smell mixing in with my deodorant so i use an unscented spray.

Man, I can totally relate. I hate the deoderant brands out there now. Everything is "cool breeze", "sport talc" or "ice blue" or "makesnodamnsencescent".

The best deoderant ever was mennen musk anti-p/deoderant, but they don't make it any more. I use the mennen fresh anti-p/d and it works on preventing the sweat stains on the shirts, but I don't like it as much.

I have to switch brands every time, because I seem to develop an immunity to one brand after awhile. My man stink is mighty, and needs much taming; more so than science is apparently able to handle.

I recently started working out more and I noticed that I was sweating alot. I found the best product ever to help, it is Certain Dri. You put it on at night and it shrinks your sweat glands and then you can use any of the deodorants that you already have in the morning. I hear that it is even better then the prescription antiperspirants and you can get it at most places that sell the brands you have already tried. I have been using it for a year now and will never go back, no more ruined clothes or embarrassing sweat stains.

I also have the same problem and I also use the Arm and Hammer.

But even with the A&H I've noticed that there is simply a time limit on how long anti-perspirant lasts. If I put it on at my usual time, 7:30am, 7 hours later at 2:30 I will start to sweat. If started keeping track and you can set your watch to it: 7 hours after I put it on it fails.

My best advice would be to get a clear solid and put it on in the morning and reapply after lunch.

There are several treatments you can do for excessive sweating. Donnie works with someone that has excessive sweating and he did some type of treatment. I don't remember which, but here is an article about some treatments

Quote:
Are you ready for the good news? There are several options available to SharpMen looking to control their sweat.

Choose antiperspirants with aluminum chloride: Several over-the-counter products provide relief for perspiration sufferers. Certain Dri, for example, is a popular product used to stop excessive sweating. Certain Dri and several other anti-perspiring solutions, such as 5 Day Pads, offer a money-back guarantee, which is especially attractive when you feel nothing might work for your sweating problem.

A product called Drysol, containing the chemical aluminum chloride hexahydrate, purports to reduce excessive sweating in 80 percent of the men who use the product for this purpose. But hold up: this is strong stuff. Doctors generally recommend applying this type of product to problem areas after drying the skin completely. Wear it only at bedtime and then wash it off in the morning with plain water to avoid skin irritation.

Generally, treatment is repeated nightly until sweating is under control. This may happen after just two or more treatments. From then on, you can apply Drysol once or twice weekly, or as needed. Once the excessive sweating has stopped, you can try using regular antiperspirants again.

If your skin is easily irritated, you can try aluminum tetrachloride (Xerac), a less potent version.

Another unique treatment is the use of an electrical current (iontophoresis) to block the activity of the sweat glands. Short applications of a device, called Drionic, to sweating underarms, hands or feet, will keep them comfortably dry for six-week periods.

Oral medications are available by prescription from general physicians, but may include undesirable side effects, such as dry mouth, drowsiness and urinary retention.

Finally, liposuction of the sweat glands can be performed — a surgical procedure that actually removes your sweat glands.

Another thing to look at is what you are buying. Things like Axe are DEODERANT sprays. Deoderants mask the odors. ANTIPERSPIRANTs help to reduce the amount of sweat. And yes, t-shirts don't make you less manly. Although it is harder to leave it open to show off the hair and jewlery. A vee-neck T you could leave a couple of buttons open. Or just buy more new shirts. Cotton and natural fiber shirts breathe better and will not make you sweat as much too.

I tried Certain Dri, and it works really well for me. I am quite pleased and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is bothered by sweaty pits. It didn't even itch and bother me like all those Amazon reviews said it does.
