Huge Dilemma

I'm just about to grad from collge.

I told a few of my friends I would stay with them for a year to just chill and stuff...but I CAN'T FIND A JOB TO PAY THE RENT!!! I have enough saved to pay the rent for 3 months. THere are no job opportunites where I live!!!

Now...here is the dilemma. They expect me to move in with them to pay for the rent so the rent will be low. But there are no job opportunites where I live, so I have to live somewhere else!!! The only reason why we moved was becuase I would stay with them to pay the rent. So if I leave, they would also have to leave. I have to go somewhere else so can find a job!!! WHAT TO DO!?!?!?

Congrats on graduation!

I think you should tell them you can't live with them because you can't find jobs in that area. If they're really your friends they'd understand, but at the same time try to help them find a replacement. Don't just walk off.

the truth will set you free.
really, just tell them what you've told us.

now, are you still trying to find a job there? or is it totally futile?

This is when it's both good and BAD to have such low unemployment.

Good for the economy, bad for those looking for a job.

Have you considered taking a lower paying job or one not in your exact field? Or are you determined to be employed in your field?

I ask because sometimes if you broaden your search, you can find things you'd never otherwise see.

try going through the campus career center because alot of companies send their recruiters through local universities for recent grads... sometimes you just need to keep your eyes peeled for the good opportunities that are hiding beneath the surface of all the crappy internships and stuff. have you already tried going through hotjobs or craigslist? what was your major? have you had the career center look at your resume? cover letter? sometimes you need a little extra help making your paperwork stand out to employers...

in any case congratulations on graduating!!

It depends on how picky you want to be with your job choice.... I am sure you can find a retail or food job. But do you want it?

Since you never signed a legally binding document saying you would stay with them....you don't have to. Now...they may be bummed, but "real friends" would understand and not hold it against you!

You got 3 months to find a job.. I took me that long to find my current one just as I was running out of money after graduation (and I held out for a good one)

Don't you have a Trader Joes where you live? Pick up a job there stocking shelves until you find a good job. TJ's good about that crap.

How is it that you were able to save up money before graduating? Use whatever financed that.

well if you want you can make 12-13 working 4 nights a week at ocbinc.com i heard, just by copying and printing stuff.

They are a giant print shop around the area. I almost considered it, but then wondered when I would sleep. Anyway the OCB owner is a car nut, so get in good with him and you can have 1 of his 4 maseratis
