big typo, what to do?

My biggest fear when I sent out wedding invites was that I'd miss a typo, like spelling my dad's name wrong or something. Well, even though Graf and I must have proofed the invites 20 some times, and both a co-worker and my mother read them, we all missed something rather big - the invitation text didn't include the date of the wedding! it says the time, but no date!!! and of course, all the invites went out 2 days ago, and a friend had to point this out. The date is on the sticker seal, as well as an insert, and on our wedding website, but just not on the official invite. So, the question is what to do?? Thanks for the advice!

If you don't say anything it'll be like a test to keep all the idiots away from your wedding. If they can't look at the insert or care enough to call, do you really want them there? But make sure the people you really do want there do know. I guess if all of your guests are really important, I'd say send the postcard.

2nd vote the for the postcard... New invites are TOO expensive.

If they still can't figure it out... just tell them to forward your wedding gift anyways.

well, since we printed out our own invites, it would be about 100 bucks to re-do everything, but it was a lot of work to put everything together.

keep quiet. if the date is on the seal and an insert then you've done your job communicating the date.

I think they should be able to figure it out, if not they should ask when the call to RSVP.

I do this all the time with work email. I'll write up a nice summary of a report I've done, spell check it, go over organization, grammar, tone, and polish it up perfectly before sending it out. 2 minutes later I realize I forgot to include the report as an attachment. I do this at least twice/month.

LOL MrGreg, I do that, too, with email attachments. *sigh* lol

I agree with everyone else. Either send postcards (esp. to the important people) or don't worry about it. They should figure it out.

The date was in the invitation. Maybe not on the actual card, but it was in there. I'd leave it alone.

AS long as they can read-they should be able to locate the date on the invitation..leave it as is..family members you can always call.

I was wondering why my invitation didn't say anything about the date. I didn't think to look on the other card. Then again, I'm just sourdough.

Yeah, I say leave it too. They all should be able to find the date, and if not, they'll call.

Yeah... They should figure it out. It's there twice. Just because it's not on the invitation proper doesn't excuse them from looking at the other parts that you've included. I say don't worry, I'm sure they're all happy for you and sufficiently want to be there to be motivated to find the date, which you did send.

You poor thing... send a postcard. "Now that we have peeked your interest here is the date!"

Good luck with your wedding.

Ya I think I would send a post card too. Only because if your family is anything like mine it will seem like only the drunks were able to figure it out. LOL
