If it feels so good, why don't I do it all of the time?
working out that is. i have the make-a-wish ride coming up in a month or so and i've been exercising like mad in an attempt to make the ride easier. i've worked out nearly every day and have dropped almost 10 pounds.
the workouts are fun, i feel great afterwards, i'm more alert in the mornings, i'm sleeping well, and my appetite has skyrocketed. the question is: if i enjoy it so much and it has very tangible and visible benefits, why is it so hard to keep doing it once you achieve your goal?

man.... i need a kick in the rear! i was sick for a couple weeks during my vacation, and since i've come back, it seems like almost nothing can get me working out. i've been feeling more lethargic, and have been feeling nasty...but when it comes down to choosing to work out vs, just going home and being a bum, i always choose the latter.
if someone can bug me and yell at me to go out and excercise, it would be much appreciated. |

once your in a routine its easy to do it...once you break that routine...just try getting me out of this chair!

man...i don't know. once i put the clothes on and start working out i enjoy it. the pain is usually good. esp. when you're lifting or riding. usually when i work out i do it for longer than i planned because i'm enjoying it so much. however, i do hate running. i only run if it's my only option and that kind of pain sucks. there's really nothing i enjoy about it. the hardest part is convincing myself it's worth getting out of bed early, or skipping lunch w/my friends. |

I don't know either. I love to do anything physical, but rarely do it. I much prefer working out with others. Working out or exercising by myself is boring! I think we are just busy and let life's priorities take control.
Many, many, did I say many?... years ago I was an aerobic instructor and trainer. I can tell you it was much easier and enjoyable doing a job and getting paid for it rather than kicking myself in gear each day and doing it for myself. Cheapie... you keep going and have fun. It's really hard for me to motivate myself as well. What works best for me? Telling myself "Just do it, &*^%$#@#" Everybody needs a mantra.

I'm back in the saddle so to speak. I try to do 1000 crunches every other night and then on the off nights I'm doing 250 push ups

Because you figure that since you've reached your goal, you can slack off. But be careful on your ride, I just heard about a dude who got hit and killed while riding a bike from San Diego to (I think) Chicago or something.
