bachelor/ette parties

Any ideas what to do for bachelorette & bachelor parties in the LA area? We're having probs coming up with ideas on what to do! Neither of us are really the strip club type, we're mainly looking to go out for a fun night with our friends (seperate parties of course!). Thanks!

here in NY some girls have their party at Lucky Chengs a chinese food resturant staffed by drag queens that also put on shows.

Although I dont know if you can find something like that in Cali <-- sarcasm

Play a giant game of scavenger hunt all over the city. Have them find things like specific matchbooks/beer coasters from local bars, reciept purchases from local stores, leftovers from certain restaurants, stuff like that.

Wow...I made that all up on my own...cool.

Not sure about LA, but LV is a short hop, skip, and a jump from you guys and is always a great place to have one. I flew out with about 7-8 buddies for my bachelor party last year and it was one of the most memoral trips I have had to date. Just because it is LV, does not necessarily mean that you need to go to strip clubs. Although if you do, I highly recommend the Spearmint Rhino.

my friend wasn't into the strip club thing either, so we just took him to hooters in pasadena.

my brother-in-law's buddies took him out and had a paintball fight - they had a pretty awesome time. i thought that was a pretty good idea since most of his friends are pretty religious and against the whole stripper scene

Hey, people have different ideas of fun. You can still have a bachelor party even if strippers aren't your idea of a good time. I think paintball is a great idea.

The whole idea of a batchelor(ette) party is to get wild. if you are going to have a party that you could have after you get married, then why bother?

The best man is responsible to set up the batchelor party. This is important, the husband to be can't be held responsible for what happens, other than his actions if it ever gets out. Anyone that blabs about what happens at a batchelor(ette) party to a member of the opposite sex should never be invited to another one so long as they live. One of the bride's maids should be responsible for the Batchelorette party.

The best thing to do would be to hold your respective parties in different cities.

I think you are on to something here. You can make it an all day event throughout the city and both groups meet up together in the end for a huge dinner or party.

My husband and I have been married for almost 15 years and we did not feel comfortable w/ the somewhat, ehem, 'traditional', ways of celebrating separately. We were to be joined together, so we had a get together w/ all of our friends. It was fantastic to have our friends support. Our separate gatherings were the week before the wedding and we had a quiet time w/ the wedding party; prayer, meal...great fellowship and encouragement.

Just a thought. Thanks for the run down memory lane!

i think that's awesome! and while i think yes, if a guy wants to have his stripper party then he should - it's wrong to say that every guy wants a "traditional" bachelor party because both of my brothers-in-law are not the types who would have a good time around strippers, as are their friends. it almost sounds like some of you guys think that strippers should be mandatory regardless of whether or not they will actually be appreciated by the party- goers.

even mike's brother-in-law didn't have strippers at his bachelor party. the guys and the girls both went to a casino. the guys went off to have a good time gambling, while the girls hung out at the bar downing drinks and dancing to a live band. afterwards, we all came back together and had a few dances as a group and then left. it was a blast and i have to say we all had a lot of fun that night.
