Talking Battery toothbrushes?

Anyone here use them? Which is the best to use? Oral-B? Sonicare? Others?

How often do you have to replace your brushes?

(I'm finding that my back teeth aren't getting as clean as the rest, I figured a powered toothbrush might help)

Oral B...but I can't find the replacement heads for my model. The only thing is....you still have to "brush", it doesn't really do much other than add some extra motion in the toothbrush head.

I really like mine though, because when you do your normal brushing, it helps to polish your teeth at the same time.

I use a Sonicare--it's awesome. Since I started using it, my dentist has commented every time I've been back for checkups how much better my teeth are. The amount of cleaning the dentist has to do is about 1/4 compared to when I just used a regular toothbrush--and no cavities or anything worth noting since then either. I change the brush head about 2x/yr. Highly recommended!

I have the Sonicare and it is the bomb!!!! drugstore . com has them onsale every once in a while.

I change the head 3-4 year. Does anyone else have that "gook" develop in the crevices of their sonicare? It is gross. I clean my sonicare once a month. That is my only complaint with it.

Which model of Sonicare is good and how much? I've been looking around for one and the cheapest I've seen is around $69.

i have been using various models of oral-b rechargable toothbrushes for about 10 years and recently switched to sonicare brushes over the last 3 years and i definitely prefer sonicare over oral-b. i got a great deal on my sonicare toothbrush at costco...they have instant rebates when you buy 2 (or something like that) ever so often. also, if you have any friends in dental school, they might be able to hook you up. my dental school friends get them for around $25....along with massive supplies of toothpaste.

I use the Sonicare.

I started with the basic version, but upgraded to the advanced version.

I have tough teeth to take care of. I am very prone to plaque and tartar and I have to brush, floss, use listerine, etc... My dental visits were nightmares b/c no matter how much I worked at it there was always something wrong.

But since using the Sonicare, my checkups have been much more pleasant. Less time cleaning and my teeth seem to get healthier each visit since.

The only thing that sucks is that the 1st 2-3 days it is really hard to get used to. Tickles and annoys your gums, but ya gotta stick with it and it is no problem after the break-in period.

Amazon.com reviews suggest that Oral B is better. I think I'll get the 8850 someday. They say Oral B doesn't have the gook problem.

I did notice that too, but if you pull apart the circular housing that screws the brush to the handle and give it a little rinse after each brushing, it keeps it crust free.

I love my sonic care, my teeth never felt cleaner!

I threw away my sonicare because the grime and gook was just too scary for me. I got one of those disposable battery operated toothbrushes. It's made by Oral-B and it has these yellow rubber tines I guess. It's better than a toothbrush but it taste like someone shoved a rubber ball in your mouth and after two minutes my hand goes numb from the vibrations. My teeth feel clean however and it cost me 5 bucks.

I got the 8850 just over a year ago on my dentist's recommendation. No gooky build up on the brush and my teeth just feel cleaner... and the dentist agrees. Much better than standard brushing... the initial sticker shock kinda sucks, but seeing how much I hate the dentist, I think it was well worth it.

don't hate the playa (the dentist), hate the game (the procedures).

like i tell patients who give me grief, i dislike being in the chair also, so don't take it out on me.

Let me rephrase... I hate going to the dentist...
