I'm pretty sure my sis doesn't look here, so I'll ask you guys.

My sis is turning 30 in a couple weeks, and I'm trying to figure out what to get her. being a guy, I'm always thinking electronics. She's getting married in march, and i figure she could use an upgrade on her camera (3-4 years old 2mp sony) for her honeymoon in europe but some of my friends are saying that's a bad gift. and that it has to be more meaningful.

is that a bad gift?
if so, any ideas?

my budget is <1k. the camera is obviously a lot cheaper than 1k, but if you have a better gift idea, i'll go up to 1kish.
...or do i just give her 1k in euros?

and i guess i'm asking here, simply cuz it's the big 3-0. wanna make it a little more meaningful...

i would get the couple a camera with a nice case for like 1/2 that and then talk it over with your folks for an idea. at 30 i'm sure she and her new hubby will be about set on most what they need and they have 2 of it to.

assuming she likes taking pictures, i'm sure she'd be thrilled with a really nice digi-cam or camcorder, especially if she's getting married! And if you want it to be more "meaningful", you can write a nice note in the card (or even a joke like: "well, now that you're getting old, you'd better take more pics so you don't forget things!") or whatever.

Here is the deal, get her the smallest cool camera that you can find. That way she can simply have it in her purse, then pay for the photographer at her wedding. You can be the photo guy. In 10 years the wedding photos will be one of the best remaining gifts, they will never throw out the wedding photos for a new set...

In all seriousness if she's into photography, buy her a dSLR, but otherwise, just a nice point and shoot and a tripod and remote setup.
