Can a Wife ever be called a "Mooch" or a "Bum"?
On Dr. Phil yesterday, there were two instances of "mooches". The one was a 29 year old guy who lives with his fiance and the other an older husband.
The 29 year old guy has never worked, is an alcoholic and contributes absolutely nothing to the partnership. He just sits around the house drinking beer. The second guy makes a lot less than his wife but does nothing around the house. He used to make a lot more, but is unable to find a well paying job. The wife complains about his lazy behavior and they argue all the time about it. If the genders were reversed, could the lady of the house be called a mooch or a bum? |

Yes. If they behave like those men were- sitting around doing nothing, drinking all day, not doing housework you'd have every right to call them a mooch or a bum. |

![]() The example is a bit extreme (drinking, not doing anything at all), but I expect my stay-at-home wife to get some work done while at home. I understand and respect that staying at home is not all fun and games (especially when one has kids), but it's a job nonetheless. With that said, if the one staying at home IS working hard around the house it's important for the partner to help out when they get home. I don't expect my wife to work 24 hours a day at home while I work 10 at the office and then come home to do nothing. ![]()

But seriously, Dr. Phil lost all of his "supposed credibility" (in my opinion) once word got out of how much he "acts like a spoiled kid" if he doesn't get his way offscreen (with his "rider issues" and such) Here you have a guy trying to solve everyone elses' problems yet he causes a major scene for any little "inconvenience" to him when he makes an appearance. ![]() |
