"And in relationships, women are less likely to want to be with men who aren’t successful or don’t seem to have the ability to be successful. So they are marrying later, and they are not willing to settle for men not as adept as they are."
That just means there will be a lot of old maids. And no, I don't believe in IMS. Anger is a result of faulty thinking. |

I disagree. The body is too complex to break it down into simple logic like faulty vs not-faulty thinking. While I would have probably agreed with you 3 years ago, I do not now, to a degree. My wife's thyroid problem has really opened my eyes to the whole hormone issue. Watching her slowly deteriorate while I, and the rest of her family, chalked it up to simple over-stress and anger in law school, only to find out it was anything but, showed me that the body is immensely more complicated than most people appreciate. Lately I have been wondering if there is even something wrong with me (don't laugh). Much of the time I am pretty tired, but when I have a good dose of coffee, I tend to think much better and am awake. Not to mention I am usually in a *much* better mood. This is to the point that if my wife wants me to go shopping, she takes me to Starbucks first. I am going to get a physical done and a blood workup to see if there is anything missing. As far as the general population, I definitely think there is something he is on to. The phase at which men change the most is the "mid-life crisis". I can't tell you how many men (my wife's father included) change drastically around that age. I know a half dozen 30+ year husbands who suddenly went crazy and a few cheated on their wives even, where 5-years before you would think it would be impossible for that to happen. In the male-centric society, where men have to be strong and steady, this type of behavior is overlooked. Perhaps it shouldn't be. |
