maid service that does laundry?
the post in OT asking for recommendation on a cleaning service got me thinking. Graf and I are always behind on our household chores, and I was thinking about getting a maid service. However, not only do we want the occasional cleaning, but we'd also want them to to laundry, one of our more hated chores. Our apt complex has an on-site coin operated laundry, and we'd just like to come home and find the laundry folded in a nice neat clean pile. Does anyone have any recommendations for a service in LA?
Yeah, I know, it sounds lazy, but when you work a 12 hour day, vacuuming or washing another load of towels is just not a high priority!

Merry Maids will do laundry in your home, for an extra fee. I suppose they would use the coin op machines if you provided the coins.
They're bonded, so that provides a bit of extra protection for you. |

Cleaning services can be pretty pricey. I have one for my condo that comes every 2 weeks. IMO it's worth every penny. I do my own laundry. They clean everything else and wash the occassional dish. Keep in mind though, pricing is generally based on the length of time it takes to do the job. If you have 2 weeks worth of laundry piled up, they're gonna be there for a while.

maybe you could look into a local wash/dry/fold service at the laundry matt? that's what my dad does, it's pretty cheap.
as for the maid service...my 2 cents is to get someone local. After I read the book "Nickle and Dimed" there's no way I'd hire a big chain like merry maids. they are the wal mart of the cleaning world.

![]() Plus, the big chains don't even 'clean' clean your place - they just make it look good. You know, wet the surface, dry it with a towel & it looks great. Much quicker than getting detergent & hot water and ACTUALLY cleaning. Find someone local - you may have to pay them in cash, but you'll likely get much better results. |

I clean house for a friend of the family and have always done his laundry. I wash, dry, fold, and put away. I spend about 5-6 hours once a month he tries to get some washed and dryed the day before so that I am not there much longer than 6 hours, but he just piles it on the bed for me to fold and put away. I think you will have better luck with someone doing for extra money than a large or small company for that matter. just my 2 cents.
I also get to take my 2 children with me so that I can avoid paying for daycare. I take a playpen and some movies and they are entertained, and I can still BF my son as needed.
