say you are in a monogamous relationship with someone, and then so which of these do you consider cheating? all, none or some of those listed?

1. staying in touch with an ex
2. looking at porn
3. going to a strip club
4. sexually fantasizing about other people

I wouldn't say it's cheating but #4 is the closest one to it, I think. I don't care if it's someone famous but if it's someone in our lives, it gets a bit personal.

A lot of people follow the rule "it's cheating if you wouldn't tell your spouse/bf/gf about it" and truthfully - that's a safe rule to follow. (I believe in it myself.)

Personally I don't go to them and don't understand why people in relationships would, but, if my wife said she went to one - I'd consider it cheating only if she did anything (ie paid for a table dance). Looking at a stripper...I can't really classify any worse than looking at porn, assuming that you don't do anything with the stripper.

I would say thinking of someone else while in that state of mind instead of your current mate is cheating, since obviously your mind is in that place even though your body isn't.

I stay in touch with an ex. Not because it's an ex, but because its just a good friendship and no boundries are ever crossed. We both agree we want nothing more than friendship.

That's a good rule!

#4 is probably the closest to cheating, IMO, but only if it's a consistent fantasy of someone we know in real life. If it's occasional, or about a distant celebrity, whatever.

Though, fantasizing might require breaking zero's rule - i do NOT want to know if my hubby is fantasizing about Angelina Jolie in bed; let me have my naivete in believing that I'm his only fantasy!

I don't consider any of the above cheating... that said, I wouldn't do 2 or 3 if I was involved with someone unless they were a part of it or if they specifically state that they are cool with it (i.e. I wouldn't bring the subject up). #1 I absolutely have no problem with and still do.

All exceptions result in Rock Creek Park claiming a few new victims be they strippers or sleazy exes.
