Birds of a Feather Flock Together

Do you believe that in guy/gal relationships?

Not always. Some of the relationships I've seen had two different personalities paired together (opposites attract? ). But yes, most often you do get the "birds of a feather" phenomon.

I think it has something to do with how the couple met? A lot of the couples who are alike met because they had the same interests.

most definitely.

the opposites attract thing is overrated. opposites would have to annoy each other after awhile.
even in friend relationships with people of the same sex you tend to make friends with those with a personality similar to yours. not all of the time, but most.

I definitely think similar personalities and interests play an important role in communication and getting along.

2 personalities definitely have to work well together for it to last but in my specific case it's an "opposites attract" thing. What Burzhui and I got is a metrosexual and tomboy love affair. We're basically the opposite of what we like in the other sex and yet it works for us. Yes, we annoy each other at times but at least we're not bored with each other!

To be too similar is boring. We know a couple that agree with each other on every single thing, no differences between the two - they make us queasy.

Usually. Too much alike is no good either.

I think there has to be a balance.

I dated a guy who was almost complete opposite, and we dated for quite awhile. Until I finally realized that we really had very little in common, and just couldn't relate to each other anymore. I mean, what sort of future do you have together if one spouse is a tree-hugging forest ranger, and the other is an ambitious business girl who loves big cities?

My husband is very similar in a lot of ways - same school/major, same industry, similar interests, personality, morals, etc. One of my favorite things is how we're often thinking the exact same thing as we pass a certain billboard or encounter an amusing situation. On the flip side, he's different enough to make things interesting, and we can have arguments and discussions on different sides. Overall though, I think we're more alike then we are different.
