Clean or not

Okay, so my best friend and I are having a difference of opinion. The subject is bath towels. When you take a shower, you wash using soap(hopefully). Then you get out and dry off. Are you with me so far? Okay, after you dry off your clean body, is the towel you just used clean or dirty? I say it isn't dirty and if you hang it up you can use it again. My friend says its dirty and you put it in the hamper. How can it be dirty if you used it to wipe off your clean body. At the most, it is damp but if you hang it to dry, its fine to use again. Your thoughts on this compelling subject. I know its not Tom & Katie but live with it.

Ummmm . . . just seems wasteful to wash after every use. For me, it's clean. I tend to use towels for a week before tossing in the wash.

Use one side for the face and head and the other side for the rest of the body.

Of course, if someone else were to use my towel (aside from a lovely female), then it is immediately dirty and goes in the wash.

i agree with your logic on that RIVERWIDOW.

i'll admit there are a couple of hooks in my bathroom where i'll hang shower towels to dry and i will use them 2-3 times before they hit the washer.

The towels get to smell because of mildew and stuff. I use mine a couple of times before getting a new one. I'd say it's dirty after one use but clean enough to use again .

I use each towel for about two weeks, but then again, I only take showers once every other week, so yeah, one towel per shower.

Pretty much a FRESH towel is clean after use.... but one that has been used repeatedly for several weeks is dirty and needs washing.

But then again, some folks don't really wash themselves good when they take a bath and usually end up putting dirt on the towel when they are done I suppose.

Kinda like the kids who said that they took a bath... but they barely got wet much less used any soap during their wash.

I have occasionally used the same towel twice without washing it in between but only when I don't have time to wash them. IMO, once you've used a towel or even part of a towel to wipe your nooks and crannies, it's dirty simple as that. Don't wanna chance having the same thing touch my junk then my face without at least going through a wash cycle first.

I'll use a towel twice before washing..but no more than that-and I NEVER use the same towel on my face or hair that I use on my body..that's why they make SETS...smaller towels for smaller area's..LOL

I use it up to three times unless it's been on the hook for a week. I cite mildew as a reason why.

The key factor here is... you should WASH YOU JUNK with your wash cloth, hence your "JUNK" should be CLEAN at the point where your towel gets involved.

If even you don't wanna touch your "supposed" clean junk... how can you EVER expect a woman to wanna touch your junk (clean or not).

Oh well...

your dead skin rubs off on it, and if it stays wet for a few hours (and unless it's a thin towel hung carefully over a heater, it's gonna stay wet for at least that long) it's going to grow some stuff.

but if it smells good, it's clean enough. i mean, if you wnat to get technical, nothing is ever truly clean even right after you clean it...

Not to start a cultural flame war or anything, but I couldn't help finding it surprising how many people say they use their bath towels only once. I mean, considering most of you live in a culture where it is commonly acceptable to wear your shoes around the house, sometimes even in bed. I wonder how many of those people let their dogs get in bed with them? Not trying to criticize or anything: just an observation from a foreigner (one who has spent most of his life in the US).

Your towel may not be dirty when you use it, but by the time you use it again, it will be as germ infested as your kitchen sink sponge.
If your towels are anywhere near your bathroom toilet, I can assure you it's not clean before you use it the first time.
That being said, we don't really shower to kill germs off our bodies. If we did, we'd be showering in a boiling hot bleach mixture. We shower/bathe to get dirt, grime and lose bacteria off our skin. You're not going to be 100% germ free out of the shower, so why worry about it?
Just cycle the towels out when someone else uses it, or after 4 or 5 uses, leaving ample time between to dry.

I use mine a few times, usually two or three before it goes to the washer. As long as I hang it up to dry after use, no problem re-using it in my opinion.

I try and wash my bath towels every time I do laundry. So about once a week. However, I do recognize them as dirty after each use. Also, after each use I throw them in the dryer. Helps keep the bathroom from getting that musty smell.

Now my beach towel....I think I last washed that thing in 1988.

I mostly was mine and the kids towels after each use, but that is because between getting three people dried off and diaper/dressed, and calmed down for bed, most of the time I forget to hang up the towels. If I actually hang up the towels I will use them one or two more times before I wash them.

I love all these comments. Now I will tell you that I normally use a towel 2-3
times hanging it up to dry between uses. Because it is now just my husband and I , it is hard to have enough for a whole load. I could use the smaller load choice but my washer uses the same amount of electricity if I do a small or big load. So to conserve electricity, which in Cal is in line with the price of gold, I do towels one a week when I do the sheets and I can do 1 load.

I do wash my junk with a wash cloth (actually, it's more of a soft sponge) but it still seems weird to me to use the same towel to wipe my face that I do to wipe my junk so when I get out of the shower, I dry my hair and stunningly handsome face first then use the same towel to dry my slim, well musculed body then I toss the towel in the hamper to wash when I have a full load.

I don't have a problem touching or having someone else touch my junk... I just don't particularly like the concept of my face touching (directly or indirectly) my junk. Personally, I have no idea why women wanna touch our junks anyways... theirs is much more fun to play with.
