baby news
My wife and I just went in for an ultrasound this morning and it appears that there might be a defect in the baby's heart. The initial ultrasound showed the section of the heart that separates it into different chambers might be defective/missing. We have another ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow at Bronson hospital. If they see the same thing then we will have to go to Ann Arbor to the University of Michigan hospital and have it checked there as well.
We really don't know what, if anything is wrong yet but wanted to ask you to keep my wife and the baby in your prayers. I'll update this if we get any more information.

Don't give up to fear yet. I have a friend who's daughter-in-law was told that their baby had a ton of stuff wrong with it. Including a malformed heart and retardation. They suggested aborting while they still had time. Greg said no, they would take the baby as is and deal with it. Baby was born 3 weeks ago perfectly healthy . No problems at all. These doctors were at UCSD Medical Center. So they were not fly by nights. No one can explpain what happened or how 3 doctors read the sonogram and came up with the same results. But bottom line, they would have aborted a perfectly formed baby.
Thank goodness Greg said no way. So keep the faith. Technology today is awe inspiring, so even if there is a problem, there is a likelihood they can fix it. God Bless you 3

good luck... i know the waiting for a firm diagnosis is by far the toughest part. i know this won't dispel any worry, but i'll say it anyway... false positive rates on stuff like this is fairly high, as is the success rate of surgeries to repair many heart defects. let us know how it turns out, we're all pullin for you!!!

cool. thanks everyone. if the ultrasound this afternoon shows the same thing then we're going to find out what it is. i'd rather have a name and gender assigned to the baby if i'm going to be wondering how she/he is doing.

good news. the baby is fine. the second ultrasound showed nothing wrong with HIS heart.
lol. i think it's a boy. she told us to look away if we didn't want to know because we asked her to put the gender in an envelope. i glanced over and am pretty sure i saw a unit. |
