Laundry question

since there are planty of moms here...maybe there are some other ideas.

Many of my T-shirts have designs on them, which over time starts to crack. To combat the cracking I only wash in cold water and dry on the lowest heat setting, which seems to have heled some. Any other ideas?

wash them inside out. You can also try placing a thin cloth over the decal and iron. that might help reattach the design.

Inside out will definitely help. Might not do much for your current shirts, but will for the new ones you get.

My kids have a bunch of shirts like that, and inside/out keeps them new for a good while.

Wash them inside out, then air dry them.

Don't even put them in the dryer... I hang mine on hangers in the doorway of my closet.

I hung a clothes line in the garage. That keeps my stuff from wearing out too fast.

its also the quality of the silkscreen that makes them crack faster.
get better printed graphic tees.
and in the meantime, you can only slow down the process, but cant stop the cracking completely

never dry them in a dryer..and use IVORY SNOW detergent on the stuff-turned inside out. Tide and most "adult" type detergents are too harsh for most decal adhesives to stay pristine after repeated washings..Ivory snow works great.

You need your own radio show or newspaper collumn.

Instead of giving good advice all the time, why don't you have some fun and recommend he bleach them to kill the decal eating germs?

Thanks for all the ideas. Ill have to check out ivory snow...i hope theres a unscented version.

And gwilks...Im not that stupid. A better suggestion is to use dishwasher soap (which also usually contains a bleachign agent)

Ivory Snow is pretty much unscented as it's primarily for babies..it's very mild. I used to wash the boys shirts with it all the time..I mean why spend 40 bucks for a T-shirt at a Dave Matthews Concert only to come home, wash it in tide and have the decal wear off..I learned the hard way..and the LOUD way..trust me. lol

because I'd be really really pissed if someone did that to me..that's why.
