The Amero -- replacing the American and Canadian dollars and the Mexican peso

You can google articles on this concept, but I cannot post/link them here.
I wonder if this new currency will actually to come to fruition.

With the extremely weak peso? Doubtful...

    What benefit would this have?
It only ends once... Anything that happens before that is just progress.

One step closer to a one-world currency?

I can see the advantages though...both Canada and Mexico use American money so frequently...it just saves them from having to exchange the money to their currency.

I believe the Euro had similar but much more severe cases of this. Personally, I think the dollar has good name brand recognition so I want to keep it.

To me this is just another of the plans for the groups that are working to eliminate the borders between Canada and the US, and between the US and Mexico.

In the long term this means we lose our country.

I'll be the first to admit I don't quite understand how different currencies play against each other in the world market, but I'd be all for developing a universal currency.

If this is a step, along with the Euro, to acheiving this goal so be it.

It allows companies to relocate to countries that give better incentives for residing there. (Lower taxes, etc.)

It would mean a transference of wealth from the US. There's no way the financial and banking industries would let that happen, much less uncle taxes out my butt sam.

Exactly... The American dollar (even though it is currently weakened) is still recognized globally as a "world currency" of sorts on it's own.

Yeah but how would you pay someone one fifth of a penny?

Could be good, could be bad. I think initially it would probably be on par with the $USD, and Mexico would be absolutely hammered on the exchange rate, and Canada wouldn't be far behind. I can see Canadians exchanging at 80% or so, and do you think the cost of goods would drop 20%? Not likely.

On the other hand, it's made things a bit easier in Europe now that the exchanges have settled down. I'd be OK with it.
