Dell Home Systems is offering large rebates on the laptops.  This offer
will expire 11/8/01.  They allow you to choose between the large cash
rebate or a hard drive upgrade.  Personally, I`ve looked at all the choices
and the rebates seem like MUCH better deals.  Dell`s a solid reputable
company too, so they`re not likely to stiff you on a rebate.  Here are some
of the deals, and the steps it takes to get them (please follow the steps
exactly if you want that rock bottom price.  I`m only specifying things you
must change from their default setting to get this price.  Of course, feel
free to upgrade components to build the computer to your liking).

  • Dell Inspiron 8100 (all-in-one laptop) with Pentium III-M 866Mhz and 16mb nVidia Geforce2Go graphics chip for $1149

  • You can also choose the Inspiron 2500 (affordable line of laptops) with
$100 mail in rebate or the Inspiron 2100 (ultra portable laptop) with $150
mail in rebate.  Personally I`d suggest skipping the Inspiron 2500
because the 8100 and 4100 are too close in price to it.  If you need the
ultimate in portability, the Inspiron 2100 may be a good choice though.
