The specs usually range from mediocre to outright ridiculous (overkill).
I can't help but smirk everytime I see someone "sorta showing-off" their computer specs, it's kinda... "uber-nerdish" (no pun intended).
Anyway, what's your thoughts on this?

well, i have been M.I.A. for a while, but even back when I was a regular I laughed at that stuff. I rather enjoy reading the simple quotes that people have chosen for their signatures. I don't remember whose it was, but my favorite ever was the "War does not determine who is right; War merely determines who is left." quote. Whoever's that was, YOU ARE THE MAN! Where did uyou get that quote, and who wrote it originally?

they're confused and they think those specs ARE their sexual identity. Hence the pride in their "Hard-Drives," "RAM," and their "full towers." Notice how rarely they mention their "Floppy drives" and "mouses."

nice to see you back prominx. long time no read. busy with work huh? by the way here's a little history I read about the UC system. At the beginning there was Berkeley. Then there were too many students. solution? take all the dumb people (which happened to include all the football players) and start a whole new campus. In an attempt to decide on location the chancellor threw a dart and it landed on L.A.
I doubt it's true. I just learned it in history class...

i'll see what i can do for the deals page...in about a week, when I should have everything squared away. Last year I had a girlfriend 100 miles away, which gave me a lot of online time (i spoke to her on aim while i deal-hunted (consider that a plug for Maggie's page, if you will)), but my girlfriend dumped me about a month ago (and she made it PAINFUL), so now I've been enjoying the freedom of being a single man, but now I've found a girl that I really do like, which means I have to stop all of my flirting and anything else with all of the other girls, which gives me more time to post, and i've also been doing a lot of computer upgrades in the last few days, so once I'm done with that...I can start searching for more computer upgrades to buy.
Oh yeah...blow me stan, heh heh. When I was choosing between UCLA and Berkeley (the day before our choice was due), I took a flight up to Berkeley to just check it out, and from the moment I stepped off of the plane, I had already made my decision, and everything else I saw confirmed my choice. I can't stand to live in a dirty atmosphere. I love the upper-class towns around UCLA, and I can't imagine college without them. I just love Westwood and the locale so much that I wouldn't leave it for any other school (except maybe Dartmouth (always has been my favorite)...). Ok...later.

I agree I really like clean upclass neighborhoods and atmospheres. I deeply envy my friends who are going to school down in LA and Irvine. But there's something about Berkeley that I just can't hate. Well, first of all I hate hot, stuffy weather so the cool, dry climate here just happens to give me orgasms. Other than that I think Berkeley is all about the experience. It's a huge salad of all the wierdos and characters from all over the US and the world. You have the clean cut preppy, dorky EECS nerd, frat jock, Asian gangster wannabe, bum, Valley girl, Japanese tourist, gutter punk, Tibetan monk, street musician, democrats, republicans, tree-hugger, nudist, satan worshipper, and the messiah, all mingling in Sproul Plaza like nothing's wrong. Believe me, it's quite a scene. But then you've got the problems like impossible parking, dirty streets, very minor crime, and the rainy winters. When it's time to leave, I'll be sad and happy. But I think I just couldn't say I'd seen it all without spending some colorful years here.
