CD/R acting extremely odd lately.....

For a while everything was fine... but now all of a sudden things don't work right. I get a lot of coasters.. but not all. I can burn about 80% perfectly in Adaptec EZ-CD Creator, but none of the other burning programs work, like Fireburner or DiscJuggler. Each one will give me an error like "Media Not Present" and such things like that. Does anyone know what's wrong?

I've had some similar problems to those that you are explaining. I have a Mitsumi burner, and without knowing what kind of drive you have, I'll give it a shot. When mine tweaks out like that, I usually have to recalibrate the laser in my drive. Mitsumi has a special program for doing this, so you will want to contact your drive manufacturer to see if this may/may not be your problem, and if they have a recalibration program for you.

I have a Mitsumi burner too... Where did you find the calibraiton program?

Just go to mitsumis home page, http://www.mitsumi.com. Look under Drivers and Manuals, then get the cd-r/rw diagnostic software. It also has a page to tell you how to use it, or you can call mitsumis tech support.

Whoops.. my bad.. I have a Matsu****a.. under Panasonic it seems.. and their technical support is very un-supportive. Crud.. hrm.
