    Question

    IBM 16MB Graphics card
    http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2...._ID=4481&fp=T"

Is there a difference between a graphics and a video card? Whould this be better than my old 8MB Diamond Stealth II G460?

    Thanks

I would not spend money on a PCI video card, AGP is at least 2x as fast as PCI if you go by clock speed. If your system doesnt take AGP, then I would focus on one that can.

"I would not spend money on a PCI video card, AGP is at least 2x as fast as PCI if you go by clock speed. If your system doesnt take AGP, then I would focus on one that can." Its true that AGP is twice at fast in terms of clock speed but in real life performance there isn't much of a difference.

osseckiii if your buying this videocard for just cruising the web and typing up documents this videocard is fine.

    Compatibility

This site says the card will only work with windows NT. Any chances of it working with win 98?

This videocard is by Intergraph and made for NT 4.0. A driver search of intergraphs website shows nt 4.0 drivers but not 98 drivers. I would highly recommend getting another card osseckiii.

For cruising the web, get a GeForce2 MX. Why bother with cheap POS video cards? With the MX you get decent performance, good price, Twin View (Optional), TV Out (Optional)... It's a good deal.

Just for future reference, most video cards that retail for under $100 aren't that great. The only possible exception being the Voodoo3 2000 for 3d gaming, or if you don't care at all about 3d, a Matrox Millenium G200.

I don't know if I would agree with that Crusher. I bought an ATI Xpert2000 for $80 (and I have seen it listed for less than that lately), and granted it won't perform great with HIGH-end graphics and games, but it holds its own. In fact, I don't even have to run a DVD decoder with this card... and the DVD's run like butter!

I have a voodoo3 2000 pci and It blows hard do not get it for gaming. I get 10fps during the heat of battle. 20fps=Dead Pala. I play Counter Strike at 340x400 or something. The one below 600x800. It sucks so I got a new Geforce 2mx pci 32mb version that should be here soon.

It was from Inno and is 135. Not a bad price for a geforce2mx. They are one over the only makers of Pci Geforces.
