Get the Klipsch speakers. They kick major ass. They are more than capable of putting out great sound quality and shaking your entire house. They are fantastic. You don't want any other weakling brand of speakers, you want Klipsch.

It sounds like you would like a setup with 4 speakers and if that is the case then I would also suggest the Klipsch. If 2 is good enough, I have the Boston Acoustics BA-635. 1 subwoofer and 2 satelites-very awesome!! Shakes the house with Quake 3!

I'm going to have to go with the midiland ones. Those have been getting good reviews. Plus....with 200W o' power, you can't really go wrong.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

Talking I have the Klipsch's, and they are definitely better than the midilands...

At a cost of $250, with 400W, you can't go wrong with the Klipsch's.

Newbiee: I had a set of some $300 Bose speakers (I know, Bose is terrible), and the Klipsch's beat my home system any day, except for the Dolby ProLogic.

Depends on what you need them for...

If you're a serious gamer, I'd suggest the Monsoon MM-1000. They're pretty nice for one person. If you're out of their effective "sweet spot", they don't sound great, but when you're sitting in front of them, wow, they're great, really sweet. Plus, they look dope, and they're significatly cheaper than what you're looking at. Like I said, if you're planning to replace your home stereo (which, by your account, sux) then forget them. If you're talking about a gaming system that you mostly use while sitting in front of the computer, these are terrific choices.

Otherwise, I don't think you're going to get a whole lot more performance out of the midilans. I'd go with Klipsch's, which have an excellent reputation for build quality, etc.

Nothing better in terms of bang for your bucks as the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500, 5.1 speakers and includes and amplifier. Goes well with the SB Live 5.1. Costs around 179 at buy.com (retail is 299)
