When ever I use Windows Media Player or Winamp, I get a popup window telling me that my "Pre-release version of DirectX has expired."

But when I try to install directx 7.0 or 7.0a it tells me that no upgrade is necessary and does not allow me to install.

What's the best way to remedy this problem?

Download the latest beta DirectX 8 and it will solve the problem. I'm using 4.08.00.0183, and no problem at all.

Done and done... I didn't know that 8 was out... thanks. Got 8 from some Danish site.

    Smile Direct X 8=good

Running Benchmarks on MDK2 and MadOnions's, I found that my computer performs between 5-10% better (FPS) with DirectX8 beta 176 than it did with Direct X 7a. I haven't tested it with the latest betas. Looks encouraging...
