My video card is an ATI All-in-Wonder. One of the things I like about it, is that I can use my computer as a "digital VCR," and record tv programs onto the hard drive. It's really rather neat.

Problem is, even saved as an mp2 file, a 2-hr. movie, recorded at reasonable levels of fidelity, makes for a heck of a big file. We're talking gigs here.

It's my understanding that there exists an mp4 standard, which compresses much smaller than mp2.

I know little of such things, but could one of you experts out there clue me in as to whether there exists software which can convert .mp2 files to .mp4? Preferably something as idiot-proof as possible (or at least something with very easy to understand directions).

    Thanks.
