    NSS: Champs!!!

    As some of you may know, my daughter (Tiffany) is a pretty avid athlete. She's been playing softball for 3 years now, and her team had their Championship Game last night.

    They were the #4 seed, going up against #1. The team they played was 14-0 and had simply dominated the entire league for the whole year. They had beaten her team twice, with the last game being 12-2 (ouch).

    Well, Tiff's team showed up big last night and got the win, 5-1. It was a great game; the girls were so excited. The league does the Championship Games right; they have a pregame ceremony, and have all the trophys set up behind the backstop for all to see. Once they got the win, seeing them run off the field after the final out, realizing they had done what they thought was "the impossible"...well, it's what makes being a parent so cool.

    Tiff had a good game. She got a hit and scored one of the runs. Here's a couple of shots from the game.

    Just a proud papa crowing a bit. It's always good to see your kids work hard and achieve success.

    Congrats Tiffany, (and you too MikeD)

    I know exactly how you feel when your kid does great in sports, academics, whatever. My son is on the high school academic team and RULES in the history and all-around categories. My daughter is the classic student athelete - straight A's and very good in volleyball, basketball, and soccer.

    If she's your oldest then enjoy these moments as they go by very fast... My niece, who I always thought of as this skinny little kid, just got married last weekend (to a great guy I might add). My son will be a HS senior next year and my daughter starts 8th grade. WHERE DID THE TIME GO!?!?

    what a nice action shot in the first pic.

    it's so nice to see girl's leagues like that. not so long ago the boy's leagues were really all there was with the girls either having to join the boys or have no opportunity for organized team play.

    i love seeing Dads involved with their daughters like that. nice job MikeD and Tiffany too.

    Proud Papa Bear time...

    Summer ball ended a few weeks ago. Tiff's house league team finished up their third straight season of 1st place ball with another championship. They went 12-0 this year, won their league championship again. A great group of kids, she was lucky to be a part of such a great "team".



    Next up was the summer travel team. Her team played in 5 tournaments: two 3rd place finishes, a 2nd place finishes, and two 1st place championships! A great, great summer overall; she got to travel and visit many new areas and softball facilities, as well as play against a higher level of competition. The highlight: a game-winning 2 run HR to win their Falls Church, VA tournament back in May!









    Tried out for an 11U national travel team two weeks ago, but unfortunately didn't make the cut. She'll try again in the spring. They travel nationwide, so we'll be looking for some G/A meetups if she makes the squad.
