A little help please - I must use everyone's brains for a moment

I am trying to figure out the various moving companies I can contact to get quotes to move everything cross country. For some reason I am coming up with junk whenever I search.

    Thus far:
    Bekins
    Mayflower
    Allied-Atlas

    Nontraditional:
    Pods
    Door-to-Door

    Thanks.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine...Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been....

I've read a number of horror stories about people who chose an "unknown" mover (such as the mover holding their property hostage for several thousand more $$). Just be sure that whatever company you choose is reputable and put everything in writing.
    stay low... keep moving...

Read the boards and find some recommendations.

Paul Arpin moved our stuff up, they were pretty good.

Check out this thread that has some additional information in it.

We used Paul Arpin for a move a couple of years ago. (They're the "official movers of the NFL" for whatever that's worth.)

We interviewed several of the majors, and we went with Paul Arpin because they were competetively priced (though not the absolute cheapest) and their customer contact folks were fantastic.

They offer free estimates, so you might as well try them out. Here's a linkto their free estimate form on their website.

A United Van Lines agent moved us from NJ to FL and it went reasonably well.
