In Pa. and NJ only the windows behind the front seat can have dark tint. Supposedly, it's so an officer who pulls you over can see what you are doing.

So far as I know California is the same way.

No, and some agencies in CA are harsher about it than others.
A few Downey PD officers used to scrape the driver's window pane inside to test if it was factory tint. That made for an ugly window that other agencies might not give you grief about.
I don't really know what the laws are in Missouri, but I have a safety problem with tinted windows.
My field of vision when driving goes beyond the car in front of me. I have a 0 accident count partly because I look at the car in front of the car in front of me; if I see it stop, I have that much more warning.
In comes the SUV: I can't see around it over it, and not quite under it. It makes it that much harder to anticipate the road ahead. Add tinted windows and it's like trying to drive behind at night with the parking lights on.
I wish they'd ban them across the board.

michigan does not allow the front windows to have tint. unless you have a doctor's note. which my brother has.
I used to think the same thing until I moved to NV and now, I couldn't own a car without tint. My car's interior would never cool down in the summer without the tint.Originally Posted by gwilks98
In NV,
Windshield -- Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows -- Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Back Side Windows -- Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window -- Any darkness can be used.
You can't live in Las Vegas without a tint. It's just too hot in the summer especially with leather seats.
I have 35% (light-in) tint for front windows even though it's illegal in CA.
