[Nintendo DS Lite] Japanese / US Compatibility

I have a little nephew that has a PSP, but reading the other thread by Thresher, it seems like it would be a great idea to give her a Nintendo DS Lite as a present since she loves puzzle games so much. I was reading around and apparently there's a "Noble Pink" version that was released in Japan that can be bought through eBay. Are there any compatibility issues between US and Japanese systems?

Same as what I've heard here. The games on the other hand...are going to be regional.

I think what he's saying is if you buy a game in Korea the game will be in Korean even if played on an American DS or Japanese DS. Similarly, if you import a game from Japan it will be in Japanese.

No region protection whatsoever (games, system, etc).

That's what I was talking about.

If you buy a game in japan...it will be in japanese when you bring it to america. Yes...you can still play it in any DS Lite...if you know how to read japanese.
