I'm on the verge of getting this but I wonder since it has no HDMI port, is that going to take away from my new Sony 60 inch tv? I know it has optical inputs, but will that be as good as a receiver using HDMI? I don't want to compromise my new tv if it performs better using HDMI. Missing the HDMI feature is the only thing making me do extra research.
I found this info at cnet... "A 2005 holdover, the TX-SR703 is THX Select2 certified, but it offers no HDMI connectivity and lacks support for the latest XM surround formats"

I think HDMI is definitely a nice feature, but you're going to have to pay more money for it. I personally don't mind using the HDTV to switch video-in's, but if you like using the receiver to control audio and video you should also look into the TX-SR803. The SR803 has HDMI 1.1 and it's also iPod ready (with the DS-A1 interface).
