Spy Reports: Requiem for the Town Car

It may be a bit early, but it looks like Ford is ready to drop the Lincoln Town Car from its lineup, perhaps as soon as the 2009 model year. Signs of its immanent demise are there, with the home assembly plant scheduled for closing and no styling redesign program in the works. Town Cars are well known as the preferred form of limousine transportation. Black cars, as they're known, are often seen shuttling special folks at airports, pricey hotels and major sports events. WHY? Why is Ford dropping this icon, the Town Car from its lineup? If you know the answer to that, you'll be able to explain Ford's other puzzling moves!

Nobody can explain why FURD does what it does... hence many of us moving on to other brands. (Honestly, they've made a TON of bad decisions on which cars to cut and which to keep in the past decade or so... Hell, they even wanted to cut the Mustang a few years back however the enthusiasts begged them into changing their minds.)


Maybe sales of "big battleship sized sedans" was waning...
