    Any suggestions to "surf anonymously"

Are there good free programs to do this or should I buy the one at CompUSA "Anonymouse surfing". It is free after rebate. There is also a free verson online of Anonymouse but it seems to have a popup.

What you use is dependent on who you are trying to hide from. IT at work? Search engines? Nosey friends/relatives? The RIAA/MPAA? Police/FBI?

If you aren't doing something super illegal like hacking a bank, you can always just find an unsecured WAP perhaps at your local coffee shop/mall. Or, there's this GNU tool that can split up your data over multiple paths.

You should really be more detailed with what you're hoping to achieve. Following some of the advice here in the wrong scenario could land you in a hot seat.

I simply want to achive not being watched where I surf. I think if I surf anonymously I would get fewer popups and CompUSA has a sale for a free program after rebate (maybe I should post that sale in the deal forum) http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...ct_code=319780

well, if you're on someone else's network, no software is going to prevent them from being able to watch what you look at if they set their network correctly. The most efficient way to hide your traffic is to encrypt it using a VPN to another network, then use the other network for access. (But then that network can watch everything you do.)

If you're looking to erase tracks on your computer (if more than one person is using the computer) you need to make sure your program deletes and 'shreds' the data so it can't be recovered.

If you're at work, I would strongly recommend against trying to hide your tracks. Most places consider that grounds for termination.
