will you use vista when its released ?

i know i won't be running out to install on any of my computers. have tried the betas and just not impressed with it at all.
1st-don't like the graphics.
2nd-was not impressed with the lay out.
3rd-i'm sure there be lots of problems (used both versions of the betas) and after the history of XP i wait. also XP works fine for me.

Not at the initial release, but I'm sure I'll upgrade when they've fixed all the major bugs and security holes. I waited nearly a year before I upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, so I'll expect to wait that long before I move from XP to Vista.

I'll probably get a copy to load on one of my test systems. I'd like to get a feel for the changes prior to migrating my main system over from XP.

i'm sure it will be an adventure. XP really does do all i need though. Unless vista makes some great breakthrough, i'll be pretty content to hold on to xp.

perhaps some magic bill gates thing that gives me 100 bucks? I'd use vista for that.

I will be using it as soon as I can get my hands on the RTM builds. Hopefully I can get copies before they are released from friends at MS.

Personally, I can't go back to XP after using Vista. Using the RC1 build as my main OS right now. No problems for me with the RC1 build at all.

I have been either testing or using Vista for about 13months now and it has come a long way.

Yeah, I'll jump on Vista right away too. Our company is early adopters of MS software, so I might as well get used to it ASAP.

Can you give us your feelings on this? I mean it sounds like you like it but can you tell me what aspects you like or what you think makes it cool? i'm rather interested as i have not tried any of the vista builds so i have no idea whats going on in the future.

Well I was a contract tester at MS for a year working with the new inbox games(nicely updated and feel and look MUCH better ). So I was testing daily Vista builds along with self hosting the more stable builds(Beta 2 and beyond). I just like the new feel and look of the entire OS. For a lot of people the User Account Control stuff is really nice after you get used to it. It will help a lot of the non power users avoid spyware and stuff as you have to give permission for things to run with admin privs. A lot of the search things are nice with it being built into the start menu and all of the explorer windows. I personally really like dwm and aero as the thumbnail previews, flip3d and see-through windows are cool. I wish they did more with sidebar as I feel like the controls are lacking on a lot of the gadgets but I think once Vista comes out and more people are developing gadgets it will be real nice(I used konfabulator for along time). I also really like what they have done with IE7, after using it at work for months I hated coming home to firefox.

I think for me it is just that I got so used to using it and liked it, going back to XP was weird. I would try to do things in XP that I couldn’t do but I was so used to doing them in Vista. There are some app compat problems but that is to be expected. With RC1 and Office Beta 2 Tech Refresh, I haven’t had any problems on my machine. Vista does require more hardware then XP which is one downfall and it takes up more perf from the start(loves the memory).

I believe the RC1 build is open to everybody to download(I believe you can just sign up for the Customer Preview Program now) and you can download Office 2007 Beta 2 for $1.50(download charge) and then update it to the technical refresh for RC1. If you have extra room on your hard drive you should give it a try(and give the new updated games a whirl I don’t know what happens if you decide to wipe the Vista partition and want to go back to the XP partition as I’m not sure how it will work as Vista doesn’t use boot.ini but you can run bcdedit from the command prompt to get and edit boot settings in Vista. I’m just dual booting Vista on my C drive and XP x64 on my D drive.

I am definitely in no hurry. The system requirements alone are enough to make me wait awhile.
