Okay as much as I love FF

Why can't it cope with bookmarks? For some reason it won't let me bookmark sites with ctrl+D and it hasn't since 1.5. I'm hoping that 2.0 will fix this but I'm not confident.

Hmm, I was just able to bookmark this with Ctrl+D...

I'm running 1.5.0.7, and when I type Ctrl/D I get the "Add Bookmark" dialog. Is is possible that you have some other application running that traps the Ctrl/D?

Well, tomorrow at (I think) 6pm you'll be able to find out.

Well, I get the dialog box but when I click the add bookmark box nothing happens.

I'm on 1.5.0.7 and it adds it for me. So I'd bet you have some other app running like Markel suggested that took over the ctrl+D.

I don't think so, I just toasted all my other apps and I still get the dialog box. It won't let me add a bookmark just using the menu item either.

My only real complaint against firefox is that it is such a memory hog. I have to restart it once/week or so because its memory footprint climbs up to about 500 meg (on a machine with 2gig)

And I rarely have more than 6-8 tabs open at a time.

Ugh, lucky you. Sometimes I have to restart mine once every couple of hours, if I'm working heavily. Mine can climb up that high in just a few hours. and I don't even have 1 gb of memory. heh

Yes I'm using XP at this point, SUSE killed my X server with it's crappy automatic update system and I'm waiting to get a dual core and a SATA drive before I switch to gentoo.

Yeah the other ctrl keys work. I dunno what's up. Firefox is acting bizzare. Like all my javascript support just went kablooie.

I've also found FF to be a little flaky - it always asks me to reset my toolbars before it will launch, or else it starts in 'safe mode'

Strange. I've never had any issues like that. Just the damn memory leak for me.

Hmmm I've never had any of these issues, including the memory leak.

Ok that's it. You're all just weird.
    I think over again
    My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

I installed Firefox 2.0 here at work today. Everything seems to be working pretty nicely, except for one annoyance. I have my Google preferences set to open links in a new browser window. This used to work in Firefox, but with 2.0 the links open in a new tab. I did some searching and experimenting, and the following solution works for me:
    1) Enter "about:config" in the address bar
    2) Search for browser.link.open_newwindow
    3) Change the value to 2

You can't do this under Options-Tabs? It worked for me for FF2. I however prefer to open links as new tabs.

Nope - the options tab doesn't cover this. For some reason, Google performs differently in Firefox 2.0 than it did in 1.x.
