Well, I logged on to Scour Exchange just a minute ago looking for some Simpsons episodes... only to discover that it was SHUT DOWN today!

That's really the only one that I have used besides Napster... but what's the best app to use now to get MPEG and RealMedia files?

There's a program called CuteMX by Globalscape that I hear is pretty good. There's also another one out there but I can't think of what it's called.

I thought that cutemx was shut down as well. If it is working, I recommend it. One reason I liked it was because almost all the files on it were complete, on Scour that could be a real pain.

I just got a magazine that said that Scour was nearly impossible to shut down...oh well. Try http://www.gnutella.wego.com . It is one called gnutella. It seems like its pretty good. I haven't tried it out yet but if it does not work just tell me and I can post another one. I got a magazine that has quite a few.

    Scour was being sued

to stop the suit and plead chapter 11 they shut it down till someother unsuspecting company will buy it... Hee HE there u go Napster! I now use CuteMx, they have alot of VCD stuff and Techno 20000 max users for the first beta test.

I'm now using that "iMesh" program. It's pretty good... but seems very buggy. Anyone else notice that?

What I DO like... is that it will download a file from as many people as it can... as long as it's the same file name and the same size. That help pump up the Mb/s... very helpful on those larger Simpsons files.

But let me know if you notice it bugging out on you, too.

And... what Gilthonial said brings up an interesting point. You can't really trust any magazine to be current these days with regard to web/tech related stuff. At least cutting edge stuff.

Like Computer Shopper... to their credit, they are one of the most up-to-date hardware/software magazines out there... but, aside from pure speculation, they are easily four weeks behind, almost across the board.

But I suppose that's the nature of this industry. I don't know if anyone will be able to put out a four-color magazine that's up-to-date anymore. If they want to keep the articles current, they'll have to resort to newsprint.

I know that we are people who are "in-the-know" and most people are not like us, but it must be tough for advertisers in those magazines to compete with internet pricing that changes hourly. Because I certainly don't give them much weight... aside from Laptop prices... maybe.

Enough ranting... time for some Jack in the Box tacos (God, they're good).
