    What's good for breakfast?

I have a 6-yr daughter who doesn't get up early...almost late for school everyday. I'm kind of frustrated by waking her up and thinking of what I should get her for breakfast. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

I'm a cereal and banana guy. I don't like the sugary cereals though. Raisin bran or muesli. Maybe oatmeal. Whole grains are better for you and stay with you longer (you don't get hungry again as soon).
I forgot you are talking about your daughter. Probably yogurt and apple or banana. Juice is good for them too. OJ with calcium.
I add new pictures to my photo gallery pretty regularly. You can see them here if you are interested: http://www.pbase.com/jeffryz

Try to give her something with protein to hold her over till she can have a snack or lunchtime. If you're feeding her "on the go," try a Go-Gurt, or make her a peanut butter and banana sammich with some milk.

    I'm hungry now...
Shrek: NO. Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers.

Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions.

If you can get her to eat it...how 'bout some breakfast apple pie?

    Oatmeal
    Apple
    Cinammon
    Sugar (splenda)

Mix it up, and it's actually good. Get it cinammony and sweet, and she'll probably eat it. My kids do. Good for them, too.

I give my 6 year old son frozen blueberry pancakes for breakfast before school...

Kinda like Eggos (but they are a local brand)... pop 'em in the microwave at 50% power for 2 mins and breakfast is on! (also I get pre-cooked sausage if he wants meat with his pancakes.)

Usually we are out the door in 15 mins from the time I start his pancakes (he's a slow eater... )

You should make some pancakes from scratch. Then you can add your/his favorite fruits to it. Less preservatives and junk...

Slow eating is a good thing. Body doesn't over eat as much.

Unfortunately, I'm a throw down eater. When it's time to eat (BBQ, bdays, etc), I throw it down in large quantities. I have to go the gym because of this bad habit, but it balances out... kinda.

Breakfast - most important meal of day. I like hot cereals when it's cooler, reg (non-sugary) cereals when it's not so cool and a real breakfast (eggs, sausage, etc.) every so often.

    Don't skip breakfast....most important meal....

How about...steel cut oatmeal with various in-season fresh fruit, whole grain/wheat toast with non trans fat type butter, hard boiled egg, fresh juice

Throw cold water on the kid. That will wake it up and get it moving quicker.

Waffles!!! I just bought a cool rotating waffle maker like the ones hotels have for thier free breakfast.

I love my waffles in the morning. So easy and cheap!

I got this one at Costco for $49.99

you know you can freeze the ones you make, right? way cheaper than store bought.

i second the vote for steel cut oats. if you've never had them, you're missing out. way way way better than "normal" oatmeal.
yeah, pretty much we missed the boat on that one. but it's still here. get you some.

Honestly, the ones I get from the store are blueberry pancakes (I still can't recall the brand name)... and he loves 'em.

No need to go messin' with what works... plus, when I make them, they NEVER come out as perfect as the ones you can buy.

    Ice cream!

My father sometimes puts rainbow sprinkles (yea, the ice cream ones) on his cereal in the morning. I have no idea why. Maybe that would make a simple meal more interesting for your daughter. And they're fairly inert so it's not like adding tons of sugar or anything like that.

I eat breakfast maybe once a month at most for the last maybe 15 years of my life. When I do eat breakfast it's #5 on the McDonalds menu with two extra pieces of hash browns. More if it's a Monopoly month.
