    Anyone see Borat?

Or whatever his name is. I thought it was ok, my friend didn't.
It's probably on the same level of Team America.
Fair warning: It has a long scene that was more disturbing than any of the puppet sex scenes in TA.

    Ooph . . . I saw it . . . laughed throughout!

Absolutely friggin' hilarious! So much of it was uncomfortable, but that's part of what makes it hilarious . . . pushing limits of comfort and making people question their boundaries . . . Cohen always toes the line and the crosses it.

As for the 'disturbing' scene . . . whatever, it was just a fat, naked guy wrestling with naked Borat . . . yeah, it made me cringe, but I also had streams of tears rolling down my face from laughing while reading the subtitles. It's definitely not something little kids should watch, but there's nothing inherently wrong with it.

Haven't seen it yet but on the local news there was a segment about it. Seems they filmed a rodeo scene at the Salem Civic Center that was ...uh... "audience unscripted". Borat was supposed to sing the National Anthem but instead starts rippin America. Needless to say the audience didn't like it much. One person who was shown close-up, both in the trailer and the movie itself, was complaining in the news segment.

The the whole thing made me wonder if the film makers actually got signed releases from the people featured. If not, couldn't they be in big trouble?

He certainly got releases from everyone. The people in the movie only have themselves to blame for what they said - and some of them should definitely be ashamed/embarrassed. Ironically, the one person who shouldn't be ashamed at all is the person who would be seen as the biggest 'outcast' among Americans - the one who would be seen as most morally bankrupt.

im going to see it today.

ive been watching DA ALI G SHOW on HBO for a couple of years now, and the character Borat is my favorite! Bruno and Ali G are hlarious too, but Borat is too much. I Like!

Oh, He WILL make you cringe, thats a sure bet. What will make you cringe even more are the reaction of the unsuspecting people he "interviews".

All the character does is expose the common American about what they know of the world around them.

In one "interview" in the TV episodes, he sits with a man running for some office who says he is pro-life and an avowed Christian (Borat says" I Like!"). Borat then asks about going to heaven, which the man says all those who believe in Christ will go to Heaven. Borat follows up with "So the Jews, they do not believe in Christ, they will go to hell?". To which the man said with a bit of reluctance "Yes.".

THAT is hilarious! where else can you find ordinary people opening up about their own hidden prejudice and ignorance? The character Borat gets people to say what they really think inside. By playing an ill-informed, mysoginistic, anti-semitic horny homophobe with his own homosexual tendencies, the character Borat gets people to say what is morally right, or what is reprehensibly wrong.

if anything its a wake-up call for America about what everyday people have in their heads.

Now enough about explaining him, im gonna go watch the movie and laugh!
there are pictures, but no,nothing happens on my site.

I saw it, and thought it was ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. I saw it in a packed house and it was a great movie experience. I won't say any more than that so that people can watch and then weigh in. I definitely think it is a movie to watch in the theatre rather than wait for DVD.

Butch, who are you talking about?

Jagshemash! I saw it. Oh man. Probably the most offensive thing I've seen since bumfights. I loved it. Great flick. I think the most disturbing scene was when the senator was speaking in tounges... But man, what a great social commentary.
