    weekend photography class

hello. i was wondering if there were any weekend photography classes available in the los angeles area. i tried google, but i didn't really come up with anything. i dont know know how much i should spend or what i should be exactly looking for. i dont own an SLR camera, but was trying to learn more so that one day my skills might be good enough to use one.

no community college classes please. thank you.

just out of curiosity, why not a community college class?

are you just starting out in photography, or are you looking for something more advanced?

i had a friend who took some photography classes at Santa Monica College (SMC), and she loved them. i don't know if they offer weekend courses, though...

maybe its cuz im lazy. i just dont feel like registering, and having to deal with the parking situation. i know that community colleges offer excellent classes for photography, especially for people like me ... but i was just wondering if there were any alternatives. thanks for your input.

Here in El Cajon(sub of San Diego) there is an adult education school. Every semester they have a "Super Saturday". 3 or 6 hour classes on one day. Maybe you could check in LA for the same thing. Prices here run $10-$35 per class.

SMC has a pretty decent program from what I have heard.

And I second Clutchy's recommendation for Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure"

No photographer should be without that book.
