A Kneed in the Chestnuts Christmas

It just ain't Christmas without Nat King Cole.

You know, I'm totally in the Christmas spirit. Now I ain't a religious person at all, and this holiday to me is really about family and giving, but usually, I love it. Some years I don't, but this year I'm into it. Sure, there is no snow on the ground and it's kind of sad looking outside, but I don't care.

Work, I dunno. Everyone seems very blah at work. Very tense and very unhappy and I feel like I'm the only person in a decent mood. Which is really the exact opposite of how the world usually is. I'm a crabass by nature. So it's kind of a bummer to be fairly happy go lucky, and here I am surrounded by sad sacks. I mean, it feels like someone up and kicked their holiday spirit right in the chestnuts.

I've worked at a few places over the course of my life, and have seen this sort of thing before. A malaise enters a place, and takes forever to leave. Hopefully people cheer up and I can go back to being crabby, because frankly this cheerfulness is hard damn work, and I think might actually be giving me an ulcer.

I'm just not designed to be cheery.

OK, I will put a damper on your cheerfulness.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire really smell.
