I made it out OK this year. Had a gig of RAM die on me, that's about it.
On the work front, lost two drives in my Snap server within about 20 minutes of each other. Bad, bad stuff...
Plextor PX-712A DVD/CD-RW
Dell XPS Gen. 2 laptop motherboard
Western Digital 500GB 7200rpm HDD (SATA-II)
Generic CD-RW/DVD-ROM in an AOpen 1557GLS (beginning of year)
Sony DVD-RW in Dell XPS Gen. 2 laptop
1 x SATA-II data cable
....and my brother had a failed DVD-RW in his HP laptop earlier this year, so I guess we'll add it to the list -- so that's 4 failed optical drives and one hard drive -- though the hard drive may in fact be OK now that I found out a bad SATA cable was causing me grief.

My 5700 card died, so Nate took the fan off of it and mounted it on a 5600 Ultra card that he wasn't using. Unfortunately, one of the screws he used to mount the fan slipped off while the card was in use, so that card got toasted, too.

Very big 'D'OH!' for me -
Snapped the SATA connector off of my 400SC motherboard a few weeks ago while closing the case. Thank goodness I had a spare board, but I was still pretty PO'd at myself.
My wife's Dell 2350. It was the HD but the whole thing is a loss.
My onboard sound card. Only get the right channel.
I think that's about it so far.

I didn't lose a single thing.
I thought my 9600xt ate it, but it just so happened that heatsink actually fell partially off so that it wasn't making contact with the chip... I kept wondering why my games crashed out immediately. All fixed now!

My old 17" KDS CRT monitor died, actually let out some crackling noises and smoke in the process. I'd had that thing for about 6 years. Replaced it with a 17" flat screen Dell CRT that work was going to throw out, it'll do until I spring for an LCD.
Also lost the right channel on my SB Live! soundcard, replaced it with a cheapie that sucked, then RMA'd that and got a SB Audigy 4.
I think that's it.
Oh how could I forget: if cameras count, my ancient Fuji FinePix 2.1MP camera FINALLY kicked the bucket. That thing went through hell and never quit until a month ago. It was top-of-the-line when I got it in 2000, paid ~$400 for it. Replaced with a Pentax Optio M20. Amazing how far cameras have come in the past 6 years.

1 6800gt video card
2 80 gig maxtor hd's. Those will be the last maxtors I buy.
3 SD100 is getting a little buggy. Sometimes it will work fine, other times it turns on and the screen works, but won't take pictures when I press the button. Lately it also won't let me access the menu.

The only thing I lost was a netgear wireless router. (at least that I can remember)
Nothing really died on me this year...
However, I did toss out some REALLY old computers (I'm talkin' about Pentium 133 with Windows 95 and 98 on them.) The freakin' hard drives were like 3.8 GB..What a joke!
Those units weren't even good "doorstops" anymore.

I was fortunate not to have anything die on me either.
I chucked one computer (after "storing" it at my parents house for the last who knows how many years) and offloaded a serviceable computer to a friend who didn't have one.
ATI AIW 9800 Pro
2 Netgear WG514 WAP/router
and a dying Inspiron 8600
If con is the opposite of pro, then what's the opposite of progress?
this december was much worse than most -
blown capacitor on motherboard from bad powersupply....sooooo....
new mb, new processor, new video card, new ps +
new monitor (new monitor because I wanted to, not because I had to) very painful month.
Wait a second... you're telling me Sixpac Shakur is a CHICK?
This computer in general is on the way out but my biggest loss was my BFG 6800GT Ultra. I had to end up buying a $20 video card cause I was broke. It sucks ass.
how'd it break? my 6800gt started having those lines and overheating. i cleaned off the aftermarket cooler and put it back and it was just as bad after a few minutes. i think it's under warranty, but i have to find the original sink and stuff. no ocing this time either.Originally Posted by Memo

Was getting artifacts. Started only in 3D games, then after a little while it spread into general 2D applications and finally when I had artifacts at the BIOS screen I gave up.Originally Posted by Showtime

That bad boy was $499 back in the day.. and still worth at least $200 to $250 if you coulda got it fixed/replaced.
Besides, I hear that BFG is pretty lenient on their warranty policy since honestly, they guarantee all of them for life.
Oh well... sorry to hear about that anyways.
