Pic Of The Day: Shelter Island Sculpture

I guess this was my first time at Shelter Island- I certainly did not remember seeing anything before. Anyways, it is next to Point Loma. I was just checking out some things and it was getting dark when I came across this sculpture. Pretty intresting- seems to be waves. There is some mosaic on the sidewalk below it and also some underneath. From one angle, it looked like a big nose. Here I used it to frame some palm trees in the background. (photo tip - always be aware of what is in the background- is it interesting or a distraction?).

A friend and neighbor gave me some more information on the piece, "Pacific Portal at Shelter Island, a 24-foot tall and 29-foot wide gazebo, featuring a mosaic ceiling and tiled pathways, created by local sculptor James Hubbell."
