I recently rediscovered my old butterfly knife, or ‘balisong’. It is an old Parker Cut Co knife, high quality with stag bone handle. Which I broke many years ago, though the knife still has good action on it. It’s pretty much a utility knife now, it’s so beat up. Blade still holds a heck of an edge though, despite my fumbled attempts at sharpening back in the day. I’m much better at that now.

Well, I brought it to work because I needed to clean it up, and I find myself using it a lot to open boxes, because you just look cooler flipping a knife open like that. Plus, I used to literally sit for hours flipping that knife open and closed over an over again (really really nice action on it) so it’s a bit of a habit I fell right back into. It’s not like I want to go stabbing people…well, not TODAY, maybe….but I really like flipping it open and closed. I’m an ansty person.

But it does make me want to find a new knife. Though good ones are expensive. I dunno. Possibly another one of my famous passing fancys.
