    Best deal for a notebook

For my daughter that can run games and be futureproof for at least 3 years. Any suggestions? Thank you

i think that would really denpend on what time of games she intends on playing. I would imagine most games can run off the basic dell laptops on the front page.

As far as future proof, i would say nothing is future proof. I figure you grab one of the dell deals from the front page ~700$....thats 1$ a day for two years if it doesnt die on you. if the laptop lasts over two years...i would say it was a pretty good deal.

if its going to be plugged in to the wall outlet most of the time.. take the battery out often. using a laptop as a desktop sure kills the battery quick.

and stay as far away from HP/Compaq as you can... also Fry's.. neither one backs their sales or product! I've got my $1300.00 brand new HP Presario to prove it... DEAD!

My suggestion would be Dell. Just keep in eye on the deals page or try to check out their website. They sometimes have hidden deals that some of us probably don't even notice from time to time(at least I've seen some).

IMHO, Probably would be better to get a desktop if its going to be plugged into the wall outlet most of the time.

Whatever you do, I'd spend the extra couple hundred on the complete care warranty.

Vote for a MacBook here. Not sure what kind of games she likes to play, but I really love my MacBook.

I agree 100%... DELL backs their computers, and has really good support. The sites above, like http://www.gotapex.com have deals all the time from DELL, if you don't see what you want today, keep checking back, it changes every few days.. and when you do order, just use your own name as the business name.. I've ordered about 15 through this site for neighbors and myself.. no problems whatsoever, everything comes direct from DELL...

I was hoping to get away from Dell. My daughters top end notebook tht cost $1100 plus $300 to extend the warranty 2 years ago is not a great performer and Dell's service is the WORST. The keyboard went 2 weeks ago, I paid $300 for a complete extended warranty, if I throw it out the window and run it over with the car, it's covered. When I needed them, hours on the phone to India only to be told the warranty expired. A few more hours and they agreed I had over 200 days left on the warranty so they send out the keyboard. The other day I got a bill, so more time on the phone and they said disregard the bill. I told them to put that in writing in an email. I got the email with the amount due. More time on the phone and it's finally resolved. They are tough to deal with.
